Mark Terrell Trouble

I just noticed this thread, and did a "WHOIS" for his website.

This is the resulting contact information that was generated.

Not sure if this will help, but posting it anyway.

Best of luck getting your funds back.

As always, never pay for a knife up front!

On this page is a link labeled "File a Police Report" (right side, white letters on a rust background).

Since his address for his old website is an SA address, that is where his business would have been conducted from and where a police report should be filed by anyone he scammed.

Just chiming in to say that I also have yet to receive anything... I posted a complaint on the BBB as well as ripoffreport.com. Let me know how it goes for you all getting your money back... so far I'm still out $400.

Filing a report with the BBB does nothing to get your money back, nor does it really have any sort of impact on a nonexistent business. You must go through the channels previously mentioned, local law enforcement, postal inspection offices, etc. Try filing mail fraud charges through the post office. You need to have all your emails and paperwork in order before going that route though.

I too had sent Mark money for an Icon flipper last year. He had made me a Mayhem & I also purchased a Hangnail from him previously so I trusted him with keeping his word on fulfilling the order. I'm in the same boat. No knife & out $550. If anyone hears anything from him or if I hear anything I will let you all know. Hopefully there will be some sort of justification.

Sorry to hear that Steven, please keep us updated. When was the last time you communicated with him, and through what means?

This saddens me. When I did business with him, he was gentlemanly and exact in his dealings. I hope he makes good on his promises and returns to the fold; his work was good, and if he mends his ways, he might do more good work in future.

I'm out $750 for a year on a piece he gave me a "discount" on and another blade both of which were "in stock". I forgot to mention he was "throwing in a pair of carbon fiber knuckles" because I was from New Orleans and so cool about being understanding. Paid for in full 6/25/2013.

ETA: This thread got me to review my fun correspondence with Aesop Terrell. Love me some memory lane and ole emails. Fun progression:
- dad blew out knee
- dad got staph infection in knee
- 2 spindle bearings in mill blew out
- flooding at usps
- usps package lost in storage facility
- credit card stolen and canceled and usps can't reship
- reshipping
- nothing

I am right there with you guys. I ordered a matched pair of folders and it went down the same path. As far as I'm concerned Mark Terrell is a lying you know what. I hope he never pops up in the knife world again.

I know this thread is old now, but would like to update everybody with new information. I'm not positive if I'm allowed to post this, but the exact knife I ordered, and I mean to the mokuti clip and materials in it's entirety, even the price is posted for sale on http://www.robertsonscustomcutlery.com/mark-terrell-damascus-harbinger/. I have contacted the site just now to let them now about his reputation and wrongs, and hopefully they can cut ties with him, but I encourage any of the other fellas who had money stolen to do it as well.

Les' site isn't the only one selling Mark's knives.
Would like to see Mark get his knives/monies owed issues resolved.
Doesn't look promising though.

Doug

this is exactly why I wont custom order anything, reputable production will be fine.

You are missing out on some great knives then. Too many nice customs to avoid them all due to the off chance you might run into an issue like this. The bad eggs like Mark Terrell pop up occasionally but most makers are good, hard-working people. Just follow the golden rule of never paying up front and you will avoid 99.99% of problems.

Mark contacted my briefly a month or so ago saying he would make our deal right. Have heard nothing since then. I have written the money and knives off. Thieves always get theirs in the end. Also, I think Mark has moved, I could be wrong.

Has anyone gotten any word back from his local authorities or other legal channels as far as getting a refund?

Local authorities usually don't help in cases like this. If history is any indication, they consider it a "civil" matter and cannot really do much.

I appreciate that but im fully content with upper scale production Knives that I can either see before buying or knowing if a reputable dealer online or not has them in stock.

Got to warn everyone.

Mark Terrell is a liar and owes me money. Not enough money for me to drive to Texas - but everyone should be warned.

His phone never answers - I gave up chasing him about a year ago.
