Martin WSK style 1st attempt

You must have a knifemaker membership to advertise your knives here. Plus, it's pretty tacky to hijack another maker's thread with your own knives. Get real.

"Hank, that came out beautiful. I'll take one. Also, I would like to see one made with A2 steel and Parrish style sawteeth (like below) Or even Randall's style teeth. And please keep them out of the edge grind like you done with that WSK. Some makers run the teeth to close to the point or to deep in cut ...the point is just waiting to break off with hard wilderness use. Are you going to produce it? and at what cost? That one looks real good!

Jules"

I second that part about the teeth being too close to the tip on some makers knives. Too close and too deep, just looks like a bad place.

Looks great. Have you tried an alternating tooth design similar to that of a chainsaw blade? I actually have one I am working on that I am trying to pin in a 4" peice of chainsaw blade into. That way it could be replaced.

The teeth on this one do alternate somewhat. I have include a pic, but it is not super clear. They are most definately for notching and not any major sawing. We use a different style of teeth one our hollow handle models that saw well and don't bind up, but this knife does not provide you with a very long area to place teeth so I think the smaller styles will work best. Time and experimentation will tell.

Thanks for the feedback, and support folks.

Sorry to offend, i was just showing my edc WSK. Hank, would you be able to put teeth like on your hollow handle knives on there? I would really love to see that. I hear that style of teeth works well. Also what is the blade thickness? Are you going to be at the chicago show?

Hi Tim, I don't think those teeth would work due to the area for saw teeth being so short. They saw very well, however. This one is 1/4 inch stock. We have a schedule conflict for the Chicargo show, so I don't think we will make, but who knows, maybe. We will be roaming around Blade however.

Hank

I will do blade next year. I cant this year, way toooo busy to get that kind of off time. If you have any questions on building the WSK feel free to contact me.

Thanks Tim, you are the man when it comes to the WSK design. I think your fit and finish is awesome.

Hank

thanks, I really pride myself and put everything into making that knife. Its a tough knife to grind correctly, as i am sure you know ;)

Just me, but I would rather have the saw close to the handle instead of by the tip. I would rather not have to hold onto the saw when usig as a drawknife. It would take away the curve on the spine which I think adds a nice esthetic, but I think would make it a little mnore funtional. I thnk would help get a little more pressure on the saw teeth as well.
Very nice knife.

Hey Tim, you should buy a makers membership.
Your knives are nice, be good to see them sold in the makers section.

I really dont have any knives to sell here. Plus i am on a few other forums which are more friendly. Here i feel like a kid in school, always getting in trouble. I am glad you like my knives though. Thanks!

I think this is a great idea. It makes a lot of sense, and we should be looking at performance over all else. It looks like we will be making a few of these so maybe when we get caught up we will try one with the teeth moved toward the back of the blade. Thanks for the input.

We're plenty friendly here. We just have certain policies and if you violate them, we let you know. Plus, personally, I think it's classless to jump on another maker's thread to promote your own stuff.

You either invite friendliness or you don't, with your own actions. Plus, I think you're full of crap about not having knives to sell here. Your private communications with people here on the thread prove that.

All my knives are made to order, I dont have stock for sale anywhere. As for hijaking this thread, i had no intention. Actually i had been contacted by one of the Martins about ordering one of my knives a little while back. I dont understand why i cant post a picture of a knife i just completed, but i can post a picture of a knife i got from someone else. I am unsure why it is so expensive to be a member on this forum, if it were more affordable i would surely join.
