Massdrop/Laconico Keen

I haven’t bothered putting mine on the Edge Pro, yet. Not sure which edge angle I’ll go with. I’ve been going with very aggressive edges lately— 15dps with 17dps micro bevel. On this one, I may go 17/20. It’s going to be getting a lot of use at work.

how do this and the gent compare?

The Keen is considerably larger. 3.4” blade vs 3.0”, 4.5” handle vs 3.6”. 4.5oz vs 2.8oz, if that matters to you. Also a full flat ground, .16” thick blade vs the .13” high saber ground blade of the gent.

The Keen is virtually identical in size to a Benchmade 551.

some post the top of knife open , i see a pic with a small pin or bar going across , and mine dont have that when open ,

post 209 bottom pic where it say laconico i dint have that pin going across, unless that is different version

There is no cross pin, either open or closed, nor in post #209 that I can see. Only the backspacer. Might be a shadow you're looking at.

I hear ya. I've had a massive head cold all week. Time to hit the bottle.

I just looked and all I can see inside is the detent on the lock bar.

I chose the 37 degrees inclusive (instead of more like 30) because it didn't require as much stock removal and the thickness behind the edge is so thin that I didn't think it would need high acuteness to slice well. On mine, I was correct - it is scary sharp.

I would love to buy a plain bronze and a grey with portals and see what all the fuss is about, but im in Canada, and its iffy if it would make it through customs right now. We need Canadian Knife Rights.

Your not seeing things, that is the blade stop pin under the R. it goes threw the blade and travels in two grooves milled into the scales. Without it your blade would make contact with the back spacer and flip open too far. Yours Must have one, if not then you have a problem. Sorry for the blurry pic, your not drunk.
