Massdrop/Laconico Keen

Halden, I feel your USPS-pain...

When mine shipped tracking said arrival Wednesday. It got delayed in Columbus (30 minutes away) and didn't hit local post office until Thursday morning. Having discovered the Columbus delay on Wednesday, I called the local (Lancaster) post office and asked them to hold it at the counter so I could pick it up Friday (since my business - where it was being shipped - isn't open on black friday). Went to the post office today, and the package is riding around on the mail carrier's truck, as he ignored the request to leave the package at the post office. Damn it.

OMG. Postal hell indeed. Hopefully he’ll drop it off for you today.

Fantastic video. Thanks for that. So they are caged bearing after all. Sweet.

Love your Tudor Pelagos too.

Not me, I've yet to touch a Keen. Oh, and stainless Datejust since 1988 - every single day. Spec's say the caged bearings are ceramic, which is awesome from the standpoint of edc corrosion resistance.

Went back down to the post office - success!

This thing is just amazing - truly. I am glad I got the Portals model, but likely will end up with all three patterns. Some quick snaps, including one with an Umnumzaan for size reference:

Alright! I was starting to get worried about you. The holes pattern is tempting. That might look good in purple...

Glad you finally got it! Thanks for the pics guys. The Massdrop photos really don’t do these knives justice. The holes pattern looks great! The anticipation of the fedex truck is killing me.

I am impressed by the feel. The way the scales are sculpted/radiussed - this is a GREAT knife at twice the price. At a buck-forty (sixty w' holes), it is a screaming deal. As great as the Kizer's are, this one seems more "Laconico" to me.

I’m awaiting mine before I make the jump for a second. The portal model will be my next after the base model. Super thin grind was the hook for me

What a bunch of enablers... purple plain heading to maine. See what I did there? Havent even had a coffee yet. Looking forward to my first production knife since the zt 609 last spring.
More excited than I should be...
Russ

I got mine on the first run,I love it ,cut cardboard and other items and the grind makes it a really wicked slicer-decided to go with plain color and no holes or groove, kind of like the raw lookand alot of Laconicos knives are in that vein and thats what attracted to me initially.great knife glad I picked one up-I'm horrible at posting pics ,so sorry guys

I agree, and that is why I wanted the raw blasted look. Ray does a lot of portals too, so when mine became available I was thrilled to snag it. Having had it in pocket since last evening, I've grown fond of the way my thumb finds the chamfered holes when drawing it from the pocket - a very nice traction enhancement. Center one is a perfect pinch pivot point to reverse the grip too.

Great point, the grooved one looks interesting also ,the action is real nice ,the only downside for me is when using it kind of developed a hot spot in the pinky area, other than that perfect edc

That is exactly why I ordered the second in gray. Most of his customs are in that plain/blasted gray, and it pairs well with the minimalist aesthetic. The groove is a little callback for me to the look of his EZCs, which the Keen seems to be a close sibling to.

These may mark a return for me to having a 5-6 day/week EDC. The Keen just feels right, and the pocket clip works great in every pocket.

Wow you guys are ordering seconds and I'm still waiting for my first one:( It's sitting in a fedex warehouse 260 miles away:eek: The anticipation is killing me!
