Massdrop Supergold Endura or Delica?

I did find the grind on my endura to be off. One side taller than the other. And a bit of a burn mark on the tip. This is a first for me from spyderco. It's plenty sharp. But I'll have to sharpen it to fix it. Otherwise I didn't see any other issues. My cladding was straight on one side and a bit of a wave on the other side, that doesn't bother me at all. I don't think that's a problem. But others above mentioned there's was straight the whole way so just wanted to comment on mine wasn't the same.

Shout out to @EpicDrop for selling me a Delica SG2 at basically cost. :)

What do you guys think about black g10 Lil Para @BOOMER52 scales and bronze Ti hardware?

I have deuteranopia, but it looks like the "gold" and bronze would match pretty well.

The paper included says it's (TiN) titanium nitride coating that provides look and function by reducing friction and increasing the parts wear resistance.
Makes sense, I have drill bits that are coated and are basically the same color.

Interested to see how this steel performs, considering some Shun kitchen knives in SG2 as a possible purchase.

What’s the rough HRC on SG2?

I’ve heard talk of 64 hrc on Spyderco’s SG2... But I’ve also seen Sal mention that it can be difficult to find out the hrc on cladded steels.

That's a good way to ruin the day of someone who just got in to flip them while they were hot!

Cool the market as they say.

Probably won't cool it for long. Out of the 1000 Massdrop started with, there are only 250 left. I don't imagine Massdrop/Spyderco will be producing another run of these because of the difficulties sourcing SG2.

Thanks for the heads up Fixall . I just ordered mine now :D.

Good call. I really think that there are going to be a lot of Delica enthusiasts kicking themselves in the years to come for not getting in on this when they had the chance.

Now I'm just trying to decide to go with either some nice wood scales to go with the gold backlock... Or some Boomer carbon fiber Lil'Para scales.

Tough call on the scales. Wood would look nice but CF and gold accents would look sexy. I'm gonna take the hardware from my work Delica and see if I can bronze them with a little heat just for sh_ts and giggles. It probably won't match but it would look better than silver IMO.

I've been hunting for Ti or TiNi coated hardware that will match the backlock for the last few days but haven't come up with much. I think doing it yourself or sending some hardware in to an anodizing company is going to be the way to go.

I think the gold/bronze color would look fantastic with either the carbon fiber or the wood. For the wood, I just picture how the buck cocobolo and brass knives look.

Should I drop $250 for a Delica and an Endura in SG2 now that I dont need to wait? Or wait for another limited run? SG2 sounds interesting but the black color of frn is a turn down and I dont care about the gold color of the lockbar.

Or maybe wait for lw Para 3, Delica/Endura killer Endela:p, Native Chief? Or just buy Endura and Delica in ZDP-189?

Wow I’m so glad I got off work early and was able to check my email. I just ordered a Delica.

Barely made it! There are 14 Delicas left, lol.

So this is now the most expensive steel for the Delica/Endura BUT...is it worth it?

It’s about the same as ZDP and a good $20 more than HAP40 (the CS exclusive Endura), is it worth it? Plenty of Endura left right now.
