I think it is now mandatory that you have to post a picture when it does patina. Awesome job!!!

Just got mine. I’m actually impressed with it at the given price point. I even like the hardware switch.

Good job massdrop

I'm with you. I get the angst on display on the Massdrop site but some of the folks posting there are way over the top in their criticism. Especially given the discounts that were sent automatically and the willingness to issue full refunds for any reason.

I've been very pleased with the 2 collaborative knives I've purchased at Massdrop so far, curious to see what's next.

Not real impressed with mine. Not very sharp out of the box, scales got to many sharp edges, blade has a scratch on it. Detent is a little weak and action is so-so. If I keep it I will have to break all the edges on the scales, don't care for the jimping on the lockbar. On the plus side blade is perfectly centered, jimping on the spine of the blade is a nice touch as is the fuller.
Send it in. If you sell it the next owner won't have warranty.

Got mine yesterday and I have to say I'm impressed overall. I do wish it had the more brass colored hardware but the hardware that's on the knife is nice. I would like to have had Terzuola name on the blade but the log looks great.

Pros: The build quality and fit and finish are quite nice. The blade in centered and the grinds are spot on. The action is very nice. It flips really well and will fall shut with just a tiny jiggle to get the blade started. I don’t find the thumb disk to be too close to the scales. But, I’m use to a Mini A100 which is very similar in this regard. I find an upward 45 degree’ish push with the thumb to work best. In other words, try and turn the thumb disk counter clockwise with your upward thumb motion. Not so much an outward motion. The size of the knife is perfect for me. Just a little larger than a small Sebenza.

Cons: As mentioned by others, the G10 edges are a little sharpish. Not to the point of being uncomfortable but it would have been nice to have them rounded off just a tiny bit. Definitely something I can do on my own very easily. The only other slight gripe is the clip location. It’s a great clip and it works well but I wish the knife sat just a little deeper in the pocket. But, that’s just might preference.

All in all, it’s a keeper. If anything, I might try and tighten the pivot just a bit to control the blade closure a little more. Never been a big fan of free falling blades. I think I mentioned this is another post in this thread but this knife screams for some beautiful micarta scales. Micarta with the bronze hardware would look amazing.

My only real complaint functionality wise is the liner lock pinches off my thumb skin pretty much every time I press it.[/QUOTE said:
I have to agree with this. It's annoying

A Terzuola production knife w/o his name on the blade and/or the clip is a historic f-up. Bob has certain "signature" things in his production designs and one of them is always his name. That's a flaw you can see, how can you believe they got the heat treat and steel right? Return it to MassDrop, loss of money will teach them well. If you don't see them selling returned knives at a discount...then you know they just re-box returned merchandise and ship it out.

I agree with most of what you say here... The Terzuola branding was there biggest F-up. But I wouldn't cast any doubt on the materials/manufacturing of this knife. WE Knives produced it and I believe it was executed very well. They were just told what to do and followed instructions to a T

I ordered an od green one. Fit and finish is good, but I don't like the hardware with the green. My is going back. If anyone has a tan one they want to sell please contact me.

If I worked at a knife company and received a final Terzuola design w/o Bob's name on just the clip, much less the logo, I'd ask "are you sure about this?" Plus it's a huge change from the online markings. Clients make mistakes, at my firm we know more than our clients do, that's why they hire us, we stop them from making f-ups. We Knives should know Terzuola's work too. Let's hope they keep their steel and heat treat straight :) But this certainly shows Massdrop isn't a knife company.

Fox has a production Terzuola for less and another one for more money. Fox is a knife company :)

If you look at the logos on Bob’s custom knife page there are many variations. Most common is the name, the symbol and “nunquam secundum”. I didn’t see anyone bitching about the omission of the Latin on the MD prototype. There are some logos there that are symbol only, just like as appeared on Massdrop knife. Some have the Latin only. Some Terzuola only.

People need to seriously get over themselves about this. There is no, single official logo. Check it out here: https://www.terzuola.net/terzuola-custom-knives

Try to focus instead that we have an awesome knife from an iconic designer that’s built well at a great price.

Got mine. For 130 it’s a good knife, honestly probably would have bought one if the original pics looked like the finished product.

Detent is strong, shaving sharp. Nice clip nice action. Yes sharp g10. Overall pretty good, great office carry

Per your link, on the collaboration page, for the knives that you can see both sides, only the CRKT doesn't have the Terzuola name. However per the CRKT website they all have his name on their three Terzuola models. They are also reasonably priced. The Massdrop knife on Terzuola's site has the original pictures of the blade with his name.

There's nothing to "get over" it's a serious f-up, particularly for this business model. Since all orders are electronic and presold, they damn well better have the product match the picture and specifications. See any of those returned knives at discount on the Massdrop site?

Again, how can you trust the heat treat and steel if they can't get the logo right? There already is a major US manufacturer who more than once has supplied blades in the wrong steel.

Massdrop is not a knife company. CRKT is more of a knife company than Massdrop.

I think maybe Terzuola may not care so much about his collaborations as he used to. At the beginning (Spyderco days) he stated he wanted his knives made by top notch companies and US production. The Starmate was originally one of Spyderco's first US production knives with the then new super steel, US-made 440V, because Terzuola wanted it that way. He's changed that concept, now his CRKT HWY Rescue (designed as a utility backup knife for police or EMT, this at-the-ready fixed blade is equipped with life-saving extras, mow through belts, break glass, save lives) is in 420J2, HRC 52-54 discounted at $19.99 (30% of original price) in the budget bin.

I’m not limiting myself to collaborations, I’m looking at all of Bob’s knives. When taken as a whole, a wide range of logo styles are evident.

You’re free to suspect foul play as much as you want, I’ll continue to think you’re radically over-reacting.

Besides, Bob has spoken and he’s happy with the knife. That doesn’t leave much room for dissenters to make a rational objection.

WE makes the knife and they are a serious knife company. Sorry, I find many of your arguments a real stretch. I agree about the mistake of leaving off the Terzuola name.
