Masters Of Defense knives

Since Michigan, removed the ban on switchblades I dug-out my old MOD Point Man. Very well-made knife of 154CM steel. Perfect size for EDC, and now rotates with my ZT 0350 Tiger. Purchased in late-90's, or early-2000 before Blackhawk acquired them.

Hello MoD fans!
Please tell me what is the reason for the difference in the handles of Nightwings? Is the second version the original one from MoD? In what period was produced version without wingwalk grip tape?
Thanks in advance for your replies!

bringing this thread back from the dead... I'd love to know as well. I have a nightwing with the grip tape handle. Is that older or newer?

Many years ago a guy in US Special Forces Group 1 in Japan had seen a picture I posted of a modification I did on a Mark I that I did. He liked it and asked me to do the same mod on several of their knives. They did not like the smooth surface on the button because they could not consistently operate it with gloves on. They had be screwing self-tapping sheet metal screws into the buttons on their knives. I removed the screws and epoxied a checkered button extension made of micarta. They were very happy with them and on top of paying me for the work they sent me a challenge coin and beret flash from their unit. They had painted / camouflaged their knives.

I don't own any MOD knives any more, but I did like the Mark I.

Gonna bring this thread back from the dead one more time. I recently found a mark 1 limited edition #1480. It is in the box with Blackhawk labeled on it however I was under the impression that the limited Mark 1 was pre Blackhawk? I found it along with an auto both new and in the box 250 bucks each. Picked them both up becuase it seemed like a good deal. I know the auto is going to be the USA produced but after Blackhawk bought them out however I'm confused about the limited edition.
Here is the link with the photos of the one I purchased

I know this thread is older but also researching MOD. I’ve recently obtained one of their Harkins Tritons OTF. The blade, however, was never sharpened. So I’m wondering if I should get it sharpened or if it’s of greater value unsharpened, as a collection piece. Any input helps. Thanks.

Have a question. Ashevillesteel.com (Paragon) is selling an automatic plain black blade MOD ATFK that looks like the original but has no logo on the blade. The price is about $200. Could that be a fake or a modern copy or the latest version?
Thanks for your input.

MOD - that outfit still around?
I thought they went bust a long time ago.

I'm surprised to see Paragon is still around too. One of the only knives I ever bought that I just can't stand is a Paragon auto. It's a $10 knife I paid $90 for - just because it was an auto.
