Masters Of Defense knives

As soon as I figure out how to get all that working I will. I seem to owe a few people replies but I haven't figured out the system yet.

Something changed here recently where the pages don't load quite right in my browsers...I can't even sign in anymore on one of them. Haven't figured any of it out yet.

I so wanted to buy the original Ladyhawks (auto and manual), but I felt that I couldn't afford them at the time. I should have just went ahead and put out the cash. Would have been a great addition to the collection and a decent investment. Made the same mistake with the Camillus tacticals produced before they went belly-up... Such is the life of a knife nut/collector on a budget!

They are sweet. Small though...actually designed for ladies I think. I'd like to have one too.

I collect switchblades.

This is an Automatic MOD Keating Hornet, original box & sheath. Perfect lock up because of the liner and thumb stud.

Hey echoil, that's my email address above. Go ahead and write it down, as I am gonna pull it in an hour.

Really happy I found this thread, there never seems to be much positive chatter about early MOD knives, and forget about finding a thread I can actually learn something from about early MOD's. I've been a long time collector of Dieter models (not as much the others, but I have owned non Dieter models in the past) and have always been very curious about model variants and company history. It was especially interesting reading about the MK2's with seatbelt cutters, those must have never been released to the public. I would loved to have seen one of those. There is definitely a good amount of subtle variances in manufacture throughout the years and it's fun trying to chase them all down. It's just too bad most of the rare stuff hasn't survived or stored long term by collectors so we won't see too much of them in the secondary market. Joining the fray with a few pics of some things from the collection.

Some rarer folders (serial #'s on the limited editions taken out in photoshop)

Ultra rare completely sterile Damascus Mark I w/ factory matte gray clip:

The elusive early matte gray / bead blast bladed Mark I

Manual, Autos, a Triton & rare factory leather holster for the Mark I

Stingers, serialized Stinger, Mark V - Original early black boxes

^cool - seems like you have 3? of the sterile limited edition - double edge mark Is ???

in spring 2005 i wanted to buy that exact sterile limited edition double edge mark I - i called the "local" dealer who had a single one - then two or three days later i drove (4hours) to the store

the store is very cool really old - the family had been selling knives since appx 1880 - when i asked about the knife - the owner could not find the knife - just the box was there - then his son told us that the other day a guy came in - demanded to see the LE mark I - and ran off with it!!! can you believe that?

i was really disappointed and bought a microtech scarab for a ridiculous euro price...

still want one of those LEs !!! awesome!

The limited editions are nice, even though the difference is just the blade, thumbstuds and button. Only 1500 of them were made vs. the 2000 stated. The sharpened edges on MOD knives tend not to be too sharp. Bummer, about the stolen knife at that shop, kinda ballsy to pull that at a store full of knives? Surprising he knew the value of the CQD limited. It is interesting, it seems the Dieter CQD knives are more popular overseas in Asia and Europe than here in the states so maybe not so surprising.

^yeah i really wanted to get that one - it was about 25% over the regular models price back then... still less than half of what i paid for the scarab :D - damn thief - must have been a knife nut himself to steal this exact knife out of hundreds they had - some even three times the price...

i only checked out a lady hawk and a hornet that day - i found them to be solid knives -

how solid are the mark Is ? any blade play or the like?

The MOD CQD MK 1's are my favorite folders, built like a tank with a lot of heft to hold in the hand. It is true that it's a big knife and that turns a lot of people off. I don't even have large hands but fits well for me. I have never seen a new Mark 1 with blade play, always rock solid in open position. With the automatics, swinging a huge, thick blade makes for sluggish opening, but that doesn't bother me. I can't think of enough good things to say about series.

I would advise folks to keep on topic, discussion of sales in this area is prohibited. Comments like, " I thought about selling this Ninja Disembowler 3000 recently, but I wasn't sure" need to stop or this will be the end of the topic. Those comments are not necessary to the topic at hand and are seen as veiled sales attempts by a lot of people.

the fixed blades remind me of daedric weapons - which makes them even cooler! - i really should have bought some of those as well back in the day!!!
