Congratulation with your Caldwells!

And another one from me in sheath by A.C.Warren (I got it about month ago):

Satin finish, black-orange Micarta.

This is last 1-6 made and he will not make any again. I have kind of mixed feelings, sad that no more 1-6 will be done and proud to have last one in the line.

Matt sad he will focus on 1-4 line. However he also sad he will start 1-7 soon...

I am looking forward to see more knives from him, because design and craftsmanship is outstanding and price is more then friendly.

Hi Everybody!
It's been a while since I've been on the forums, and it's great to see all the nice pics. Thanks for your support! I've been communicating with some great folks through my partnership with vintageknives.com. Yeah, VintageKnives probably seems like an odd place to find "tactical" style knives. I had the good fortune of meeting Billy through a mutual friend, and things just clicked.
The 1-6's are all gone at this point, and the 1-4's are going fast. A 1-7 should be out early next year. I may do a very limited run of 9 inch blades, as well. Stay tuned to VintageKnives.
Happy Holidays - Matt Caldwell, M.D. Caldwell & Co.

(Joe-Hope I see you in Puyallup; got something to show you...)

Just 154CM for now. I've been getting good feedback from guys who have used their 1-4's and 1-6's for dressing out game. Some have done multiple animals and declined my offer to resharpen their knives. Apparently they don't think it's necessary just yet. I don't do much hunting, but I've chopped down a lot of small trees with my 1-6. I don't know if it's steel, egde geometry, heat treat, or a combination of all 3, but they seem to work OK! Plus, I hate to say it, 154CM keeps them a little more economical, and I try to make them a good value.

I have got to say those are absolutely beautiful knives:) All I can hope is that you make a lot more I would Love one with a 10" blade!!!

Matt - great work!

That piece with the black/orange micarta handle that nozh2002 posted is incredible - any chance something like that (two-tone grooved micarta) will be available again? And maybe with a 7"-8" blade?

thx - cpr

Thanks for all the kind words. To answer a couple of questions: Yes, the black/orange micarta will be available on upcoming models by request. In fact vintageknives.com just posted a 1-4 with that handle material. In a couple months the 1-7 will be released. It will have the same handle design as the 1-6, with a longer (7"), wider (1-3/4") blade. Plus it will get a lanyard hole through an extended tang in the rear. For you big knife guys, we'll do a very limited run of a Model 1-9. With a blade 9" long x 2" wide, it'll be a handful. There's always room for a 8" or 10"+ model in the line, if demand is high enough.

Looking for a 1-6? Try Tactical Edge Knives: tacticaledgeknives@googlemail.com
They gobbled up a lot of 1-6's while they were in production, and may still have a few left, including some interesting variations...

I probably should have started a new thread but this thread has some great pics. This knife really looks awsome. There is a web site that has three in stock.

Unfortunatley the maker does not have his own web site. I think they look fantastic and decent materials are used.

I am waiting on the RC4 and RC6 or else I would snatch these up...well at least one.:D

I hope to see this maker and his creations more often. Maybe we can convince him to have his own section in the manufacturers forum.

Good luck Mr. Caldwell.

His 154CM shows pretty stable results so far after 50 cuts of 1" manila rope. I should add that it cuts rope much easy then other knives, almost like without my involevement, probably due to excellent ergonomics.

Thanks Vassili.

Thank you Vassili.

Can you please label your charting or explain more in layman's terms what you numbers and results are to this point?

Thank you! :)

I know it's been a long time coming, but the new Model 1-7 & 1-9 are finally available. Vintageknives.com got the first ones last Friday. Anyone looking for something bigger than the Model 1-6 will not be disappointed. Check 'em out.

I was kicking myself for missing out on a 1-4 or 1-6 with the black/orange handles, but just lucked out on one of the last 1-4's available from Vintage Knives. It's a satin w/ leather version; just what I was looking for! Now for that insufferable wait....

Thanks for making this one available Matt!

Great!

I look forward to your impressions.

Vintage has always been very good to me.

Yep, Billy is top-notch. I've bought a couple Doziers from him in the past. Looks like Matt does some great work, I'm glad I caught one of these.

Congrats on your score! I love that B&O micarta, but I can't get it anymore. We only built 5 or 6 with that material. I also sent Billy a matching set of knives (1-4, 1-6, 1-7, 1-9) in tan canvas. The 1-6's have been sold out for a long time, but I sent one from my personal collection. The 1-4's are soon to be sold out, as well. I'm sure he'll have pics up soon.

Got a 1-4 and a 1-7. I will be ordering a 1-9 shortly. All with tan handles. Cant wait to use them........Great job.. Keep up the good work.......
