Not sure where you're getting your information on marketing/market forces, economics, and business law, but I'd suggest getting your hands on some second-hand or international edition versions of current textbooks on the matter. Absolutely no disrespect meant by this, but you seem to know just enough to feel as though you have a grasp of the subject matter while actually being wildly off course with it. None of those things work quite the way you seem to think that they do.

No one is saying our economic system wouldn't collapse if we ended all IP protections tomorrow. Maybe even our society

Just we woulda been better off never coming up with the idea.

All the Chinese manufacturers coming up and slapping Americans around is great proof of why IP laws are bad for consumers.

It's all made up value that should have never existed in the first palce

lol i am for the IDEA of the axis lock

Whining about BM's axis lock is like using a frame lock from a 15 dollar china knife as the end all be all.

That would necessarily not be an accurate representation of everything an axis lock can do. Just like it woudln't be an accurate representation of what a frame lock could do from the chinese maker.

Would you feel better if I called it a pin and spring lock instead of an Axis lock?

Drivel. You are evidently biased towards Chinese clone makers, as you mention them all the time. Clearly, you have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to knives.

aren't you the guy who prefers compression, frame, and liner locks to axis locks/

hahah. You sure do reply a lot for a guy who has nothing to say*.

You really need to work on your logical argument.

I don't overpay. I'm a good capitalist. Surprise teh guy who can just take the ideas he wants and synthesize them is gonna make a better product than the guy hemmed in by IP laws in a vacuum.

Again, it seems as though you're speaking authoritatively about things you know very little about. None of what you just said makes any sense if you know how these things work. A bit more time learning about them from well-vetted scholarly sources would go a long way towards giving you a good foundational grasp of how it all works. But it's not something you can Google in 10 minutes and understand all of the moving parts involved. It'll take several months of study at least to be qualified to make assertions on the subject. I'd like to reiterate that I don't intend any of this to be taken as insulting--it's clearly a subject that you seem to be passionate about, and so I'm suggesting that since you so obviously care about it that you might arrive at very different conclusions with a deepened understanding of the topic, which is most swiftly learned through instructional materials from credible sources. :)

Once again, more drivel. You don't even own any knives, so how can you speak on their behalf?

No it makes perfect sense

yOu jsut can't imagine it

Hahah

Again in 1600 i wouldn't have paid Machiavelli. Humanities default state is not pretending ideas are property

No matter what color you are.

Those are rich people who have indoctrinated you into protecting their monopolies.

You have to recognize your own conditioning sometimes.

And considering my education...I'm much better qualified for this discussion than an economist. it's a historical and philosophical question.

Where did IP laws come from? On what first principles basis to we enforce them? Those aren't answers an economist is trained to give you. There is no relevant math here.

We had no IP protections until very recently in America.

No, he's gonna make an already existing product without putting in any of the financial, intellectual and innovative efforts.

Just so you know, 42Blades is one of the most knowledgeable folks here. You're in way over your head willie. Of course, you already know this and are just having fun with it. I see now. You've been here before, but like all the other times, tick tock, tick tock.

So he's an expert in IP law next to anyone?

Do believe that?

You don't think a degree in western* history or poly sci would be more relevant? Even philosophy?

You do realize that Machiavelli's "The Prince" wasn't published until five years after his death, yeah? It was first circulated as a printed publication in 1532, and even at that time Machiavelli couldn't have seen a single cent for the work, having been occupied with his full-time profession as worm food, let alone 68 years later.

I have a business degree in management and entrepreneurship, and make my living running my own business, part of which involves designing, sourcing, and marketing my own unique products. I assure you, I know what I'm talking about. It would be interesting to hear what educational and professional credentials you have on the subject.

Your whole line of argument amounts to a Gish Gallop and deserves no further consideration at this point. Your above post is, for all intents and purposes, indistinguishable from trolling.

I am dumber for reading this post.

And it's not like I had a lot of smarts to spare.

Please step back and commit yourself to a learning curve before you mislead those who regrettably think you understand the topic at hand.

What? This is coming from someone who doesn't even own any knives! Joke's on you, I'm in before the lock.

If he does it better or cheaper that's the free market at work

I don't see the problem beyond again the presumption the state would protect him. If the original producer didn't have that expectation there would be nothing wrong here. It's how humanity did things for a long time

If you made an awesome, cogent, enlightened post, I'd steal it and call it my own just so you could feel what being victimized by IP theft felt like...

Very strange that you think you're qualified to gauge my argument knowing where you fall on the IQ scale

But OK
