May 14th Roll Call!

Hi Guys -

I am able to drive up to Johns house if it will be a problem for folks to come downstate.

If Jeff is in the area, we could ride up to Johns together (I think his mother in law lives in the Peoria area).

Just say the word.

I have not heard from Sean either - I hope everything is ok.

best regards -

I'll go along with that.

Jeff

I think the neighbors will get a little pissed off if we had the fishing contest in their pool!

Hi All,

You guys can deal with a little bit of pissed off, can't you? Ha! Ha!

John, I really appreciate the offer for Yvonne to drive me down to your place, and drop me off, so I could make the rest of the trip with you. I would really love to be able to do that but, I'm still not really all that sure that I could make that long a trip all at one time! I know if I pushed the issue, Yvonne would drive us right to the Gathering for a few hours and drive us back home but, I figure that would have to be at least a three and a half hours drive one way for us. That would put us half way to Teddy's place! If she drives me to your place, that is a four hour round trip for her down and then another four hour trip to come down and pick me up again! We are paying $4.17 per gallon of gas today here! That is a tank of gas to your place round trip for me, at $4.17! That comes out to $75.06.

I am sure by the time the 14th gets here you are probably going to be paying at least $4.75 or more per gallon, if it is $4.50 now! That is insane!

Anyway, we have been talking about maybe trying to get down to visit with Teddy and his wife some time this month! We aren't really sure that will happen or not either but, we figure we better try to save our gas money just in case we get to do that! Some times I guess you just have to bite the bullet for things like that! If gas keeps going up like it is right now, it might be the last time we will be able to afford to drive down to see them! At least with going down in our SUV, I can put the air mattress with all my blankets and pillows in the back and I can ride back there while Yvonne drives us down! That’s how she brought me home from the hospital in Milwaukee!

Yvonne and I were sitting around talking about the trip that we had originally planned to go on, and drive down to Florida last month, before I got hurt! We figure that would have probably cost us about a thousand dollars just for the gas for the round trip! I told her, she might have to start going down once a year by her self on the plane to visit with her family! I don't fly anymore, it's too risky! I like to at least have some control, instead of putting my life in the hands of a sleeping air controller, or a pilot that has spent the afternoon in the tavern! Unfortunately, there aren't hero pilots like Sullenberger, all of those planes out there!

Anyway, even though I might not be there in body, I will be there in spirit! If it happens, let the rest of us know how it goes, and everybody take lots of photos for us, that didn't get to make it! Good luck everyone!

Take care and stay safe,
frontiertom

I'm probably closest to both places, so it doesn't really matter to me. If carpooling, I would obviously pitch in with gas or help with driving.

mqqn: How was the Jaycee beer festival? Didn't have a chance to make it down there, too busy last weekend.

Hi Mr. S -

The beer fest was awesome. I wound up pouring a couple of "hard cider" brews, so I had tons of women coming to my booth to get that stuff. I didn't drink too much, but I had a great time working the event and chatting with the ladies.

Y'all have fun, wish I could come. I look forward to seeing some photos of all the hardware that shows up.

This is going to be held at mqqn`s house. I do have the car that day, so if anyone wants to carpool, just let me know. Question for mqqn, do we need fishing licenses, or is it a private lake?

BTW - I forgot to mention that there will be 2 prize knives. One for the $20 Kit Contest, and one for a random drawing.

I just finished up my kit this afternoon and I used every penny of that $20!

Hi John -

You do need a fishing license, but I have never seen anyone asked for a license outside of the annual ice-fishing contest when the lake is open to the public. It is a private lake community.

There is a shop just up the road where licenses are available.

I guess I won`t be doing any fishing, no sense on spending money on a license I`ll only use once.

Yeah, I'd like to tag along John. Do you want to pick me up at my house since it is somewhat inbetween your's and Andy's?

Hi John -

I think it is fine to fish - we will not be keeping any, and it is a private lake. I think the only time a license is required is when the lake is open to the public.

You guys will be here as my guest.

I looks like there is going to be four of us. Steve is riding with me, and I offered Sean the same thing, but have not heard anymore from him. It looks like an hour from my house to Steve`s, and about another 2 - 2 1/2 hour to mqqn`s. What time are we starting? Anybody bringing any trade goodies? Maybe Steve can show us those knots this time, if he does`nt cut himself again. ;)

Hope someone takes a few pictures of the outing to share with us. I know you all will have a great time!

HI John -

You guys can come out anytime you like - I'll be ready for you all in the morning.

We'll have a good time I am sure.

Looking forward to this! I sent an email to both Chuck and Steve, no replies yet.
