May 2025 Buck of the Month - 112 Slim Pro TRX MagnaCut Blade with Silver Aluminum Handle

Decent amount available still...220.
It'll make a nice collector knife, especially for the Star War fans. And once the pictures of actual knives start showing up here, maybe I'll wish I'd have gotten one, as I often do.

I think the whole idea of a Slim 112 with Magnacut & aluminum handle is an excellent idea. Cerakoted handles might even add a little more grip than anodised, and this looks like my idea of a perfect edc. I could maybe even go for a Cerakoted blade. But purple? No!

Can't disagree. I have the Darth Vader 112 with the red cerakoted blade and black handle, and I love Magnacut (especially how well Buck sharpens it up!), but this purple blade with the silver handle....just not my jam. That said, I'm actually a bit surprised that it's still available today, couple days after the drop.

Well...One is on the way! Arg! Thanks Buck I didn't NEED it but I did WANT it because it's rare odd and.....cute. I just couldn't help myself.
I DO have great granddaughter s I can pass it on to if needed. Seriously a BOTM like this is really not a user because of the blade coating BUT because it's Maganacut could be.. Now I can post in the "What's your Newest Buck" and "What Buck do you have on Order" and various other 112 related threads. Plus I REALLY do kinda like checking the mail for a new Buck. On Facebook it's a hit (or not) because of the blade coating but again I have always loved Odd 112's and for SURE this is one of that kind. I'm also very sure my girls will think it's....cute.

The purple seems darker in person, and the action seems stiffer than my TRX 110s - does the Cerakote add friction? Still a cool knife to add to the collection.

As usual, they look better than the release pics that Buck used. Is this going to be a collector's item, or is it going to be a user? It would be a good candidate for either.

As for the friction, I suppose the Cerakote is a little coarser than bare metal. It should loosen up with use. You could try loosening the pivot screw a little bit, or sometimes there's some manufacturing gunk left at the pivot that needs flushed out with a little oil.

Wish they were cheaper. I'd have gotten extra to be a carry
Considering the price of other maker's Magnacut knives, I don't think the $200 price is out of line. This is probably a must-have for collectors, but all my knives are users. This is pretty much the edc that I've been wanting Buck to make for quite some time now, yet I didn't get one because I don't like the color. When you come down to it though, if it's going to be a user, the color really doesn't make any difference.

So............... I've been sitting here for a couple days now, hoping you guys buy them all up, so I don't break down & get one.:)

Mine came in yesterday, and it's been riding in my pocket today. I haven't noticed any extra stiffness in the action compared to other 112 Slims. The texture of the aluminum scales feels slightly more grippy and rough than the Darth Vader 112. I'm really, really glad I picked this up, and don't see it getting kicked out of my pocket anytime soon.
