May replace my Sebbie as EDC...

I really like the mini grip....it's probably moved into my second favorite slot...but my sebenza is back in primary EDC role! At this point I think the only knife that will take its place is another sebenza, maybe a small 21 CF or something. I think I'll swap the mini grip in more often than any of my other knives though!

I've kicked out both my Sebbie and full sized Grip for these two. I'll carry my Grip again once I can get some green/olive canvas scales. The black plastic handle from Benchmade is light, but annoyingly hollow.

Domino for casual.

Resolza for black suit/professional.

That Resolza is pretty sweet looking. I have never handled a domino but I own a pm2 and a sage 1. How's the flipper action on that thing? Also which Resolza model is that?

I have a drawer I keep all my knives in (don't we all) and when I came downstairs to go to work this morning, without thinking I reached for the mini grip. That's pretty telling!

Edit: do you own a mini grip? I have yet to handle a full sized grip but the mini grip, likely because of its full liners doesn't feel hollow at all. I also read somewhere the Doug Ritter scales are made of a different type of plastic, but I can't confirm that is true or false....

We have a "Sardinian Connection" thread here. A member named Fausto is super helpful. You can read my full review of the resolza here:

The Domino flipper is super-smooth. I was pleasantly surprised, since I didn't think Spyderco would try to compete in the flipper market with brands like ZT. But the Taichung quality is on point as usual. I switched to the Domino from the Sebbie because the carbon fiber looks real nice with any clothes. The Sebbie is just too metallic in appearance.

My grip is full-sized. Maybe the mini-grip doesn't make the "TWACK" sound when you close it. It certainly is very loud and annoying, if you love flipping that smooth Axis lock. I know I do.

I think my sage from Taichung is probably my nicest looking knife with the carbon overlay scales and polished steel showing...they pay very close attention to QC. I like the titanium carbon look so I think I may need to pick up a domino at some point here!

As for the "TWACK" you describe, it definitely does happen on the mini grip. It's not the tightest performing knife but it is fun to play with for sure! I wouldn't say there is side to side blade "play" but I can feel a little movement...it doesn't lock up like my sebenza does where it actually feels like a fixed blade, but in real world who cares!

It's gonna be a few months before I get another new knife, but in the mean time I have a feeling this mini grips gonna be in my pocket quite a bit.

I live in SoCal as well, never had any issue with anybody questioning me about my knife clipped to my pocket. But I can see in the future, as my family grows, kids go to school, childrens sports, etc, wanting to have my knife hidden in my pocket instead of being the dad that carries a large visible knife to tee ball!

im here in socal too and well im barely old enough to drive so when i go somewhere with brothers that me having my pocket clip showing can be questionable to others who may not like it i just carry my traditional folding knife deep in my pocket. less "scary" when a sixteen year old pulls it out to open something than a spring assisted tanto at a pop warner football game.

I'm new to quality knives but have always had an EDC. I went through numerous cheap brands, had a budget spyderco years ago that I loved, but lost. Recently, I had been carrying a CRKT Drifter for a year or so, replaced it with a CRKT Squid and then a Kershaw Cryo. Took the leap into quality knives and am currently carrying the Mini RSK MK1 m390 below. I have a set of full CF scales being made by Igorded . I cant wait to get them! I'm having him leave out the lanyard and left handed clip holes. I went with full CF (no colored or GITD liners) and stonewashed standoffs. I also have a deep carry clip coming from Benchmade, free of charge. For me, this is the perfect EDC as I work in an office setting and the CF will class it up. When I expect to be beating on the knife (camping, fishing, wheeling, etc) I'll bring one of my budget beaters or reach for the SOG Seal Pup I keep in my truck. I'm sure the Ritter Mini can handle some abuse but for now, I plan to abuse my cheaper knives and keep my Ritter Mini assigned to lighter duty, EDC tasks.

^Thanks!

Man I love this mini grip, I took a box down at work yesterday and was amazed at how well it eats cardboard...easily the easiest knife in my arsenal to cut cardboard.

I tried some micarta scales made by someone here on my Ritter Mini, and although the fit and finish were great, I just found them too slick and sold them. Though the plastic scales aren't pretty, they do the one thing they're advertised to do, and that's provide a good grip. Not to mention very lightweight and I could care less if they take a beating.

Canvas Micarta not polished, is very grippy, if slightly "fuzzy" looking. And personally I like the rustic appearance of it in a scale.

This thread is making me think about a Grip. Never liked the look, as stock, but with micarta and a regrind... could be one killer knife.

Here are some of the ones I carry besides my Small Seb Insingo. Just depends what I feel like. I used to carry my PM2, but I have been told it scares people as it looks very "tacti-cool".

Micarta done right...

Nice looking EDC collection. I really like the look of that Kizer flipper...

It does have a tactical look and action to it for sure...Were you told that by a concerned friend or just some random on the street? I carried my PM2 for probably 6 months and never had anybody comment on it.
