I use all my knives, baby about 2 of them, do ask for a bare minimum of packing so a product stays in place. I would be, and am, A-OK if some of my more "hard worked" knives (Spyderco Shaman, actually my closest knife to a Strider proportionally) were not packaged in a perfect foam fit. It isn't in fact, just in foam, and in a box with a good fit. Cold Steel just uses small, small boxes to prevent the knife banging around. Case just wraps it in wax paper in the box, fine by me.If you need a case and foam, invest in a padded helmet.
Remember, avoid your own walls.
How big is the box? Because it really seems like in the videos of Striders, Burger takes pride in his anodized finishes, which, to my knowledge, can be rubbed away with wear. $600, the maker taking huge pride in the artistry of it, seems that you wouldn't just throw it in the ammo can like you could with an Ontario RAT... even though you could with that knife.
My Ti knives are usually bought for fit and finish, like, I have two "fancy" anodized Ti knives that I am cautious with, because I have plenty of great offerings from Buck, Cold Steel, Spyderco, whoever, depending on my needs, that are also nice but in a material that looks better with hard use, like carbon steel and micarta (CPM M4/mIcarta Shaman > Strider imo). Are you saying these are no nonsense work knives, and nothing more?
