Medford Praetorian opinions.

Who said collecting knives made sense? ;)

True, but I don't really consider Medford's as "Knives". More like a sharpened, folding pry bar. The price is ludicrous, especially considering materials.

If you like the knife why not buy it? It is made with good materials and excellent craftsmanship. People say you can't single handed open those big blades. Greg has a video where he shows the proper way to operate it effortlessly with one hand. It's a big blade knife so you can't used "skinny knife" techniques

All knives are expensive if you think about it. If you consider how much titanium and steel you get in a praetorian then you could argue that your getting a a good deal.

Thanks guys! I am definitely going to be buying a praetorian. When it all comes down to it I just really enjoy the design of the knife and if the build quality is good then I'm all in. Thanks for all the opinions shared!

Advanced D&D/Gamekeeper + knife nut = Medford Knives.

Like fantasy come to life. Like that dwarf dude that made Gut's sword from Berserk. It even cuts!

^ That wasn't spoken derisively btw.

I LOL'ed.
You'd have to be an absolute *bleep* to walk around with a Medford in your pocket and thinking it the optimal slicing/cutting tool over all others.

Medfords - merely just another symptom of the downfall of the (obese) Western civilization (tongue in cheek ....., not really).

Where did I say optimal slicing tool Blade Scout? I will tell you this, it was a LOT sharper out of the box than any Hinderer or CRK I've owned (pretty decent amount BTW). Enjoy what you enjoy sir, knocking others favorite toys is pretty lame IMHO. Oh, FWIW, that was a very easy to carry knife due to how amazingly slim it is in the pocket.

And what is a "bleep" if I may ask? Frankly, your post has me a little pissed to be honest. Maybe you'd find one of my HAP40 Spydies more to your slicing tastes? Or one of my Gayle Bradleys? One of my zero grind Custom Emersons? Perhaps my Rockstead Shin? You quoted me and chose the language you chose. IMHO it says a LOT more about you than it does me. I doubt you can teach me much about knives, sharpness, grind geometry or even blade steel. I am a pretty easy going guy, but that post really rubs me the wrong way sir.

Ok, I think these knives are ridiculous and I question how anybody can find beauty in such a monstrosity, but this post is just uncalled for.

These is no reason to question someone's character over the knife they carry. You can question his taste in knives all day, but I assure you that Officer's Match is a standup guy and knows a thing or two about knives.

As OM said, that post says more about you than any Medford owner:thumbdn:

I guess Greg rubs some people the wrong way but I kinda like the guy. I don't know a lot of other owners who give out their personal cell# and actually get right back to you if you have a question. If you watch his videos I think you'll get an idea of why they cost so much. His designs aren't for everyone...some I like, some not so much. I do own a Pratorian, and the build quality if perfection. I'm pretty OCD and can normally find something wrong with about anything, but not that. They are big overbuilt folders so if thats what you want... Mine just sits in the safe most of the time, and I carry a benchmade grip. I don't regret buying it though.

Where did I say optimal slicing tool
You didnt.
I assume, that anybody buying a knife-like object, would want such an object for its cutting and/or slicing capabilities.
The look/feel of a Medford are of course the reason some customers buy these knives.
Personally I see no reason for these chunky folders to exist and I find them silly.
YOU on the other hand can spend your money as you please.

I read on the forum (but couldnt be bothered to search) about the manufacturer of one of these types of knife-like device; that he didnt care an iota about knives. There was merely a marked and he fillled q void. Seems to me, that it was Medford but could have been another manufacturer. Maybe some other forum member knows.

Since you took umbrage to me quoting you, I deleted the quote and slightly changed the post. See above.

As before, you and others can spend your money as you please.

Im not one to tell you what yo do.

Should you go blindfolded and naked on a tricycle at a 100 miles per through a busy intersection, that is also your perogative. Im not your keeper nor am I in a position to dictate your knife-like device buying choices.

I stil find Medfords beyond silly but a chunk of steel should not get anybodys underwear in a bunch (shrugs).

Ironic, that you stil quoted it though thus perpetuating the 'problem,' instead of just calling me out.

That says a lot about you.

Just because one is an expert sxxt stirrer in WC does not mean, that you should bring it here.

Keep it in your pants ....or in WC, as the case may be.

Officers Match, I hope you are happy with your Medford. Should anybody want a Med or a sharpened prybar, all are certainly free to do that.

Most of us here (hopefully) like knives and buy the ones we want.

As this thread is about Medfords and should not be about persons, maybe we should get this back on track?

....or rather you guys/gals should, as Im out.

This is starting to remind me of the old Strider days. It's just a knife and to each their own as I see it, it's their money buy what you want. You know some guys like fat women and some like them skinny so maybe it's just a carry over. :p Myself I wouldn't mind a drop point T version just to check out....or the viper. ;)

Here we are making other members the topic of discussion. This is General KNIFE Discussion. Who needs a formal reminder on how to behave in this subforum?

@ BladeScout - you started this nonsense so I'd adjust the tone of your posts going forward.
