MY TOLERANCES

Insipid Moniker,
I didn't insult anybody. Go back and read and see if you can comprehend what's been written. Yes the thread is old and it doesn't matter when I came to it, seems like it still gets responses and some quality contributions. If you or anyone else feel insulted maybe you need to take your marbles off the mantel. If their lost grow a new pair. In the end cowboy the f@#k up. That's not implied to be an insult but some friendly advise. That advise comes in pretty handy to get through life and you don't have to enroll into Obama care to get it. I just gave it to you free and it's all a state of mind. Lighten up amigo things will get better.

I guess I don't mind Greg Medford's personality because as someone else stated, he says what's on his mind and doesn't candy coat views and intents in order to cater to the emotionally tender. He's a former Marine as am I, so I've been trained not to be emotionally weak and misconstrued what others say as an insult. As he states in one of his many videos, his employees are pretty much all former military and they all give each other shit. Guess they all have thick skin and big shoulders for crap to roll off. Seems they all make it through the day at work without needing sensitivity counseling too.

Back to the knives. I hacked through a 2X4 in 7 minutes this morning with my TFF-1 D2 blade. This was after cutting out a water heater from its cardboard container then breaking down the rest of the box. After I was done I was still able to shave hair from my arm. Not like a razor but it cut off hair. No blade play still solid as a rock. Ran it down some ceramic sticks and it got back to scary sharp again.

No chips in the blade or fold over on the edge. I even dropped the damn thing onto the concrete floor, tip first and no damage, yikes! So I'm pleased with D2. Now I'm wondering how it will hold up if I split the pelvis bone of a whitetail. Bones pretty hard so I'll have to give it a try.

Then perhaps you should follow your own advice if you feel others are instigating. You seem quite capable of dishing out, but you don't seem to be able to take any disagreement with even an ounce of civility.

Why not just grab a Sawzall and saw the 2x4 in uhhh, like 14 seconds:confused:

I've dropped a Sebenza tip first on concrete and it's fine, and I'm sure it'll split a pelvis just like any other 1/4" piece of steel; just fine.

A Medford isn't the only thing that would handle those scenarios.

Oh yes Blues your right any sharp 1/4" piece of steel most likely would split a pelvis but the subject on this thread is Medford knives. How nice of you to chime in again, I can tell your the life at every party with your witty uplifting comments. You also strike me as quite the hunter by your on line persona, I could tell by your sawzall comment. Why didn't I think about that, putting one of those in my pack instead of relying on my knife back in the bush. I like to test my equipment before deploying, sometimes surprises are a bad thing but I forgot your a flicky kind of guy.

Blues Bender I'm surprised you have much time to spend in the wild being so active on a forum and a social media guru. Lets see, you been a member on this forum since Feb 2014 with 6,373 post. At 365 days a year that would roughly put you at 6 post a day, everyday for the past 3 years! Holy shit do you ever leave the basement or do you just have really good data service in the boonies?

Insipid Moniker isn't far behind either. Just so we're straight, Insipid, I'm perfectly fine with people disagreeing with me. I like to hear about another's point of view for my own possible enlightenment. Never came across that I didn't. I'm not particularly fond of my posts be misconstrued. If you need clarification just ask. I only dish out to those that ask for another helping. The fact that I told Blues not to be a instigator is because every subject he's involved in he's instigating. The proof is in the writing boys in girls, just go back and read the many many various post.
Keep the focus on the subject fellas. Sounds like you have a lot of bundled up feelings inside that you just need to release and this forum is your out. Try getting a girlfriend, their good for emotional release and will listen to your problems but that would require eye to eye contact wouldn't it.

If I could reach across the computer screen and touch the tip of your nose with my finger and say BOOP! That might make you guys feel better wouldn't it.

Again back to the Medford, while cutting the 2X4 board you'd think that hot spots would be present by the design but I felt none. This is good, as to find out you have a screamin blister after making a shelter at camp could be a downer. Also that D2 blade touching up so easily is a huge plus while in the wild or at the work site. Does anyone else have any crazy cutting feats they've accomplished with their Medford?

My post count is high because I don't write useless walls of text. Therefore, more time spent making witty posts and asking why you're unpacking water heaters out "in the bush".

We are not going to make each other the topic of discussion. That's means stay civil or STFU. The behavior in the discussion forums is getting out of hand and will stop one way or the other. Maybe it's time for a culling.

I tried sending you a PM, you're full.

Gents (and of course any blade enthusiast ladies), please make this thread informative and/or lighthearted. This is turning into a QTRM5TR thread without the laughs.

^ First & foremost: thank you for your service, deerslap!  Semper Fi!

These are literally 2 of the best, most accurate comments that I've had the pleasure of reading during my 3 1/2 years as a supporting member of this once respectable forum! Unfortunately, GKD is becoming a disgrace, thanks to a few keyboard commando's (read their post counts in the NON KNIFE RELATED SUB-FORUM) who seem to have taken over this place. This thread is another prime example, illustrating that it's become nearly impossible for the true knife aficionado's, the ability to have a civil discussion. To get the full appreciation of the true mindset of some of these internet trolls', all one needs to do, is read their posts in the W&C, directly prior to their postings here; their intentions are crystal clear, their mental frame of mind, is one in the same!

Getting back on topic, in relation to the OP's inquiry to the Medford Praetorian: last year when I was up in North Central Idaho, I gave a couple of Spyderco's PM 2's to my best friend's sons. They used them to clean some of their game, in place of their usual inexpensive fixed blade knives. One of them used his PM 2 to cut the head off of a white tail he had just shot. He was amazed at just how sharp these awesome little folder's were!

Next time I head up to Idaho for another long stay, I definitely plan on taking the Medford Praetorian T that I recently purchased. I'm really looking forward to putting it to some hard use, & hopefully, if this place is cleaned up by then, maybe I'll be able to share how this knife fared, without being incessantly ridiculed. :)

We are not going to make each other the topic of discussion. That's means stay civil or STFU. The behavior in the discussion forums is getting out of hand and will stop one way or the other. Maybe it's time for a culling.

I sincerely hope that this is the case, Morrow!

BladeForums used to be a pretty cool place to hang out and enjoy knife discussions such as this one. Those days appear to be over. A select few, seem to have their own non knife related agenda. It's all about "control," and getting "their way!"

I've seen young children throw tantrum's out in the public before, so that they could achieve control, and sadly, I see many parents cave in to these tantrums. Maybe BladeForums might want to consider bringing on a couple of counselor's? It's just a thought!

Kelama,

I don't need any attaboys or a dissertation on what you don't like about this site. Stay on topic or don't post.

Indeed. It's the start of January gang, getting real cold here and deep in snow. This is a good time to take some down time while indoors and sharpen all your blades and do some in house blade testing. This might include water heater boxes, hmmmmm and other crazy material laying around the house or garage. You might be surprised at how the same steel on two different brand knives performs. As always a little testing at home is worth a ton compared to a failure in the field.

I'd like to hear about any hard testing anyone has done with their Medford's and especially any failures so I might have some heads up on their capability or lack of.

I had a thread a year or so ago on the praetorian. You can search for it if you like.

It did everything I asked of it. I kind of fell out of love with the knife and not being able to break it down with out voiding the warranty was a push to look in another direction.

They are great knives and made very well. Some like them and others don't.

Silly designs, laughable warranty, poor geometry and low end blade steel. . . but at least they are overpriced.

Silly designs? Don't knock em till you try em. laughable warranty? They'll fix anything that goes wrong or breaks. Cash in your beer cans and spend the $20 to send it in. Take it apart and screw it up, well I wouldn't cover that either, who would? Poor geometry? Well works for me, must not work for you. Low end steel? Must be referring to D2. You might want to talk to Bob Dozier about that and the many other Professional knife makers. Hell I remember when 440C was high tech, you must be young. Overpriced? Received my Arktika today, worth every penny to me, love it. Everything is overpriced if you can't afford it, at least that's my way of thinking.

To show my age, I also remember when Rat Fink was a hot rod car mascot created by ED "Big Daddy" Roth. I know, I know your rat finkenstein the kitty cat. Rat Fink was actually a rat, now that's kinda funny.
