I got to use the MC around camp the last few days. I'd say this thing is pretty dialed in as a big camp blade, with a good balance of both chopper/batoning blade.
Pretty gnarly chunk of wood left by a previous camper.
I had to really lay it on to drive it through. I busted that good baton a few times.
A couple of young pines had gotten blown down at the edge of camp, enough for a little chopping session. The MC bit nice and deep, though these are still more than half green and were more for cleaning up camp than serious firewood.
Used the MC to take a little fat wood out of a stump, made for a quick fire.
Got a little more use with the Boreal 21 as well. Heck of a nice saw, and sharp. I let it skip a little with my offhand too close to the cut and it bit me, just enough to let me know what it could do if you don't respect it. I've been using Silkys lately and let the push stroke of the Agawa Canyon sneak up on me. But I got in a rhythm after a bit and it really sailed through the wood once I started doing my job.
After three days in the hills, I ended up with one small roll (if you can even see it) on the blade. It's pretty hard to capture, right at the point of stick, and very acceptable for how hard I layed it on.
The Medium Chopper is a pretty dandy knife. It's much different than the LC. I'd like to see what it could do as more of a pure chopper in 3/16 stock and maybe a half-inch more blade height just for kicks. As a big camp blade that needs to pull multiple duty, though, this thing is top-tier IMO. Cheers!!
