Men and Knives on Bladeforums

Here ya go. Now I did take a little off the military's scales to shorten the overall length(I think maybe 1/4" at most), but you get the picture.

I kill them for fun. They're predators & so am I. I am also a human harbinger of flying lead plague as far as prairie dogs are concerned. Both are inedible, and dangerous to humans and livestock for different reasons.
I do the ranchers a service, and I enjoy it. Any male that hasn't been socialized into the Disney view also enjoys hunting for the pure sport of it. It's built right into us, and we're the best predators in the world.

Not ashamed of it one single bit.

No..you have it all wrong. Over half of the hunters I know do it to put food on the table or protect their livestock. Even some sport hunters have justification for hunting rather than just pure bloodlust, like in your case.

I'm a vegetarian for the most part, I only eat what I catch and catch what I eat when it comes to meat. Sucks I've never been good at fishing. It's unfortunate the mentality of a lot of young hunters these days, maybe when they become men they'll understand to respect animals and not glorify killing them, justified or not.

Time to get this back on track:
This picture's pretty manly. This is my brother and his friend's son. He MADE this suit of leather armor. He cut it out, dyed it, riveted it all together, crimped every ring of that chain together (interlocking, by hand), and the knife in his pocket is a Spyderco Endura (which he swears by). The sword he carries (which you can't see) was hand forged by him and a buddy of his. I'm damn proud of my brother, and he is MAN - hear him ROAR!

For me it's mostly about managing game stocks... Since predators are not allowed to keep the population in check, people have to micromanage it. Seeing a moose in the back seat of the family car was what made me see the value in this work.

Meat is harvested for food... It helps cover the costs but lets not kid ourselves. Meat is still cheaper at the supermarket when you factor in the gear, gas, time and fees.

I also do a bit of pest control to protect indigenous species.

Maybe once again on track - Busse Basic 9 chopping up lots of manly food (BACON!!!):

By the way - I'm all for hunting. I've harvested my share of meat. If you hunt, fine. If not, fine. I just don't think this is the thread for the airing of the argument for or against. Just post some MANLY chit!
And hey sideways, that was not directed at you. There's been a LOT of discussion back and forth about it, and while it's interesting, I'm sure there's other threads for that.
