halle-freakin-lujah ! I have two Becker neckers still in the factory box that I bought at $30 something each, Crewman, BK9, and a Patrol Machete. That Patrol machete saved me gallons of herbicide.

No real news at SHOT. I spoke to Ka-Bar and they said maybe in the fall. Nothing more than a banner with the new BK&T/Ka-Bar logo to indicate any relationship.

Just hopping in with a comment.

MAGNUM CAMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

That's all I got.

P.S. How about a limited Bladeforums MAGNUM CAMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

I called Ka Bar last week, and actually talked to someone...nice, since they didn't respond to emails...the customer service rep said that the first knoves would be out in June or July, but they had not decided what model would be first off the line.

Thanks for the update and posting this, this is newsI've been waiting for.

BK1 Brute, PLEASE, Please, please

waiting patiently,

Wondering if Ethan is lurking and has any tasty tidbits for us ?

thanks

sorry mate, Becker said he thinks the bk-9 was better than the brute
yes the same bk-9 that chips out on wood
the brute is not going to be made

I just picked up a BK10 at the local Army-Navy Store for $65. I know it is a lot less than EBay, those prices are just crazy...but do you guys think I got a good deal? There was no time to think, I HAD to have it once I saw it in the case!

It'll be interesting to see how this pans out. Ka-Bar have been great to deal with and to tell the truth, in real-work butchering, the 14" Bowie has been great, even if made in Taiwan. I foresee more consolidations/mergers as time passes.

The Ka Bar Bowies are great knives. Becker will be right at home there.

BK1 Brute, PLEASE, Please, please

Sorry, I almost came to tears at an earlier post by Ethan Becker himself...
Hey Everybody.....
I am overwhelmed and oh so glad to see how much enthusiasm you all have for my stuff!!!!
Please remember the contract is not yet completely written yet!!!...There are some things I can predict....no PATROL MACHETE (BK6) for a very long time as there are very few flat grinders with a long enough stroke anywhere. The BK1 BRUTE has in my mind been superseeded by the BK9 COMBAT BOWIE. The nine is a real light sword...it cuts rope and better than the PATROL MACHETE, it has the heft and balance to chop well, and it will do most little stuff well. Add a NECKER (BK11) and you have everything you really need in a wilderness situation. The Fisk designed MAGNUM CAMP was ALWAYS the sleeper in my line BUT it DID NOT SELL. The BK2 CAMPANION and BK3 TACTOOL will be among the first to be produced if only because of the military. PLEASE have patience, I am pedalling as hard as I can !!!

Got to go but wiil be back here later tonite or tomorrow....

All Best..

The anticipation is killing me, so...I called KaBar to see if they had an update on what Becker knives would be out first. The sales rep said that at this time it looks like the Beckers won't be out until August or September. She also said they don't know which knives will be produced first, but they will have an idea in July.

I have both the BK1 Brute and the BK9 Combat Bowie. I know this might sound crazy but I'd have to disagree (respectfully) with Ethan.

The BK9 is a great knife but the Brute chops significantly better. In my experience it is also more versatile because of the uniquely designed spine. The "anvil" not only makes a great hammer, but it also makes a great hand hold when you want to remove bark from a tree with both hands on the knife. There is a reason they are selling for 2 1/2 times what the BK9 goes for on Fleabay. I believe they would sell more than enough to justify another go-round. PLEASE MR. BECKER BRING BACK THE BRUTE.

I hope Ethan can answer the question I have on another post. Why Camillus drop the Desert Camo finish on the BK-7? I have one and like it very much except that the coating comes off the handle very easily...maybe that's why they dropped it.
