Microtech bringing out a new manual! Edit- 2 manuals actually!!!!

so microtech with the aggressive machined look on the parts where we put our fingerprints... i think i would have to compare it to my insingo blade.

Got mine in the mail today, MUCH bigger than I anticipated. So far I like it, LUDT for scale.

After handling one I can't say I'm super impressed, it's larger than the specs make you think it is, fit and finish look good. Still a good value for $250. For some reason the G10 feels more slippery/plastic like to me than G10 normally does. Could just be the finish, also while the thumb "window" is huge, it's also very rounded, narrow top to bottom, and the opening arc is very wide, so it's not as easy/secure to open for me as say a Spyderco or most thumbstuds. I can get it open easily enough, but it's not second nature. It just seems "oversized" in that unless you have really big hands it feels a bit awkward, could also be the very weight forward balance. If it was reduced in size 10% to me it would feel closer in ratio to other popular folders, if it had full liners to balance out the blade weight it would be pretty sweet.

It's also very front/blade heavy, it doesn't have a "full" liner, it just has a narrow bar that goes between the metal top spacer for the RAM lock and the metal backspacer. So much of the middle of the knifebody is just G10 slab. Seems strong enough, but it's balance point is very far forward compared to most folding knives like say a Manix 2, Shaman etc. Probably trying to keep overall weight down, but it makes for an odd very front heavy balance to me.

Thanks for the honest review, with the amount that I've seen for sale on the secondary market it seems you're not the only one that feels underwhelmed.

To be fair, I'm probably being overly harsh cause I had really high hopes for this one. In reality getting M390 in a big folder with G10 at $250 is pretty impressive considering Benchmade sells S30v knives at higher prices. I do really like the lock and the machining is very clean. Time will tell how great the lock is, but it seems like they fixed both the spring issue that BM has, and the plastic ball cage issue Spyderco has. If the form fits your hand well, it's probably a tough combo to beat at $250, if nothing else it's impressive the quality they are bringing at that price point. My complaints are pretty much size and balance related, but as far as value and fit/finish it's impressive for $250.

I think just the higher secondary price is driving that, I mean probably 50% of the PM2 15v's showed up being flipped, and with just MT direct selling these right now they are much harder to snag and I've seen them go over $400 on the secondary market, so anytime you can make a $150 profit on a $250 knife, people are going to flip them.
