I know a lot of guys who are complaining that Microtech has forgotten the middle class and now only produces folding knives in Marfione Customs at $1,000 to $3,000. Plenty of you out there are looking for a Microtech Socom Delta (waaay under $1,500). Which they only made a few of them in 2012 and 2013 for around $330 right??

Well.. Look what I just found.. There is only 1 out there. But I think there are a lot more to come. I kept hearing rumors they were going to start running these again. Let's hope it's true!

They posted on their Instagram today that there are Socom Delta's in aluminum and G10 coming out soon, with a 5/2015 birth date. This time around the aluminum is going to be anodized in multiple colors, including red or blue.

I actually bought one from 2012 in G-10 a little while ago here on the Exchange at a little higher than retail because of it's "collectability". Plus I've seen them going on Ebay for around $400 to $500.

Guess they aren't "Unicorns" anymore. :)

The SOCOM Delta is one of my favorite manual folders...glad to see them back in production! Unfortunately the one I want (clip point blade, satin finish in G10 scales) isn't available (best I can tell). Hopefully they'll be cranking out more soon! Thanks for the heads-up!

Nice! I love my Socom Delta. Will for sure be getting a clip point version (blue handle, satin finish will be the ticket).

Yay joined the knife party as these things went completely out of stock and only available on the secondary. Bout time they came back

Bout time! Easily one of my most regrettable sales was getting rid of a G-10 SOCOM Delta... When these are more readily available I'll be getting a replacement asap.

I had one years ago and I let someone talk me out of it for some cheap crkt knives! I was a mere toddler to the knife collection world.....

I'd love to see a D/A Socom Delta...

How about they fix my Mini Matrix first? It's been at their repair shop for at least 6 months!

Current Service
You know Brancon, you bring up a big point. Without trying to take this thread into a negative direction, I will say that the Socom Delta that I bought here on the Exchange had to go in for service last October. I just got an email from Microtech apologizing for the lead time and said they were working very hard on getting it done and that I should see it pretty soon.

Building New Factory
I think the bigger issue causing their service lead time woes is the fact that they are building a new $3 Mil facility in Pennsylvania. Could be why they have been making so many customs too.. to help pay for that facility and equipment.

Brighter Future?
So my hope is, when that new facility is done, they will be better outfitted to produce knives like the Socom Delta and new models too in higher numbers with greater efficiency.

Time will tell..

Hopefully with them running the new Socom Delta they should be able to fix mine that much faster. I don't know how I feel about that proprietary pivot though. It would be nice to see some more in CTS-204P instead of Elmax. I have more $$$ into mine than I'd really like.

Unless they are going to use CTS 204P again, the original G-10 SOCOM Delta's are still unicorns. I still carry mine often.

Oddly the pic shows ELMAX on the blade but s35vn in the text at the bottom so maybe they have a number of blade steel options they will run?

On their website they say every production knife they do is going to be in ELMAX this year, apparently they're really smitten with it.

But honestly, coming from a former owner of both a Whaleshark and Socom Delta, I wouldn't touch any of their stuff with a ten foot pole at this point. Their customer service was decent in the brief period where I experienced it, but it has absolutely tanked recently. It's back to the Microtech warranty service horror stories of yore. They're not a small company anymore either, they have two factories at this point.

All they care about is money at this point, and not customer service. As Anthony Marfione said at BLADE this year, "I don't collect knives; I collect machine guns and dead presidents"...

... and presumably, horribly tacky embroidered shirts :D

The new facility they are building I hope is just for cust service repairs. Although rapidly producing production models is nice, the multiple year wait time between runs make the models more special IMO. If they start pumping out everything all at once and all the time there will be market saturation everywhere! Dealers will be flooded with models and MT will loose that exclusive feel for some of its models.
