Microtech made in China, yep

As I mentioned before, I'm a die hard Star Wars fan. I really, really want a Jedi Master Ultratech/UTX. I like the Sith Lord, but there are no "Star Warsy" markings on it, other than the black handle and red blade and therefore not worth the money in my opinion.

I hope maybe this change means that these will be flooded on the exchange/secondary market as people abandon ship. This would be the only way I'd consider buying one.

There has always been the joke that Microtech and MTech are the same company. Soon to no longer be a joke?

I think I may buy a black OTF of some sort, have the blade cerakoted or similar red, and just put some Empire stickers on it. Today I'm dressed as if a Sith Lord worked at an office. Red Polo, black shorts with red zipper internal cargo pockets, Darth Vader watch, death star ring, and my Southard with red CF scale.
I agree with this comment. I think the CA legal autos are just super cool, forgetting legality. Those Boba Fett ones? Forget about it! Also, I personally like the D/E 3.9 OTF (I don't know all of the Ultra-Elite-Micro-Bravo-Socom names) but the prices are insane and I will only consider a secondary one too, as the only ones I WOULD buy new are the $290 smaller ones, and they aren't legal to carry, so I just want the large one if I'm gonna have one over the limit, and a small one that I know is under the limit. I hope they'll be around for cheap, too.

I was thinking about getting one of those $40 Bushmaster OTFs from BudK just to try the OTF platform, they seem reliable enough, but I don't know... I may as well buy a $10 one on Wish or whatever that are as close to Microtech, so I hear, if I am going to try a Chinese OTF. But, I would really rather a new company come on scene and start selling OTFs with a different business model than Microtech!
I dumped all the Chinese garbage out of my collection. Who knows if what they sell you is what it is supposed to be. I simply won't have that trash in my collection.

Microtech has sold out. What a shame, but I guess this is the way of the world these days. Won't be buying anymore of that stuff....
Mane, I still buy knives from companies from France, Germany, America, Japan, Thailand, Sweden, that have been making their knives with nothing but an upgrade to the steel for some cases 150+ years, and I have a fine time doing it. Not everyone is like this! There are folks rising up, lot of new players with excellent product, we need to support new and indie knife companies coming from free countries 😀

The last two knives I acquired, one is a Microtech and one is made by Rike. I like them both. Rike is well known for being wizards of CNC. I guess I'm kind of indifferent and willing to wait and see what happens. Given an option, I'd rather buy USA made.

I thought it was a really disappointing move, personally. Microtech was already sort of losing me with the ridiculous ad campaigns and silly clothing line.

The most interesting part was watching it bring out the worst in people on social media and especially for a lot of knife review channels. Many of them were aggressively pushing this "collaboration" and even going as far as to go on unhinged rants insulting their own viewers if they had a negative opinion on it.
