Microtech: This is just preposterous!

Hmmmmm I'm just gonna throw my two cents in here if I may.....I met Tony at the Toronto Blade Show and him and his wife are not the monsters people say. He had his own toolbox beside him ready to tweak anyone knives for free. He was even willing to sell me his own tools for cheap but he couldn't as it was the first day of the two day show. I couldn't make it the second day so I couldn't buy them. He explained to me his reason to put the microtech screws in his knives was to give the customer a custom feel for his knives. I told him I was not very comfortable sending certain microtechs on ny personal collection over the border and he had no issues whatsoever to send me whatever tools and parts I needed. I could clearly see he doesn't like people touching the inners of his knives without really knowing what they are doing. I completely agree with him and he is not the very first maker out there to put a label "disassemble voids warranty". I do fill he needs to do a little house cleaning at Microtech CS . he gave me his personal cell and email and said if I needed anything at all to text him or email him.

I used to believe microtech was ran by a fire breathing monster and if you ever came close to try to open any of their knives it will catch on fire and burn you to hell. Well this is not true at all. A lot of guys need to have a face to face conversation with the guy and realize his true theories why he does things in a certain way. I haven't bought any more knives off them but after spending time with the guy I understood what he wants for his company . Yes their CS needs to get better but very very few knife companies out there are truly good at it. I think it is realistic to say if you screw up the blade purposely by doing a messed up sharpening job then you will void the warranty....if you screw up the engine in your Chevy by doing your own oil change does Chevy need to replace your engine? I don't think so, and I'm sure Chevy and microtech and a lot of makers out there will agree with me.

There is a really good reason why Tony is very well respected among knife makers and close knife collectors. I am not trying to defend anyone because I do feel the pain some guys in BF go thru BS from microtech CS but I have met the guy in person and ask questions many of you present in this thread and I get now why he does things in a certain way.
