Midlife Crisis Fix - 315hp Subaru WRX STI

I love my subaru more in the snow than anything. Other than the tight twisties and mountain passes. I have an 06 wrx dyno'd at 363 whp and 383 wtq. Lose the wing though..I did.

where did you get all your work done??

I see the Subarus and others in action at www.rallynewyork.com where I do communications. We just had one rally and the next will be late October. The winner of the last one was Ken Block one of the best rally drivers in the country. Rallies are a good place to take some pictures other than knives !

Congrats, Coop...just three things
1. Now that you have a fast car, perhaps you should learn to park......those lines are there for a reason
2. You work at a Ducati dealership and you still like bikes that only go in a straight line. You should have bought a 1098R to assuage the pain of your mid-life crisis
3. Also, buying a boat with a MOTOR is very good for this mid-life thing. Having a truck with a big V10 does not make up for sculling about in tiny English sampans:D;)
Just teasin........have fun with the new toy. You deserve it after living in mini-van hell for 5 years...lol.

Thanks guys, for the info.

Hi Joe.

#1. Busted.

#2. I own a 'Yamaha Majesty' scooter. Close, but no cigar... ;)

3. I coach 20 strong High School athletes in eights. They win, I win. They lose, they lose. I'm getting smarter.....

OK, my crisis just got quieter. I implanted the stock tailsection with muffler. I just couldn't handle announcing my presence to everyone whenever I wicked it up. I am stealthy now, and loving it even more. Sorry! :grumpy:

That is one awesome car, Coop!

Enjoy it, and be safe!

Good for you Coop! I am planning my midlife crisis real soon - just as soon as I can convince my wife that a Skyline GT-R will make a fine family car (not too likely). This road rocket should be immensely fun for you. Drive safe!

Roger

This was my car back in high school, a Skyline GT-S coupe. Not a GT-R but the engine was highly modified and rechipped and the body had full front and back spoilers and body kit.

They have a lot of room in the back seat actually. I used to travel with two or three friends in the back seat all the time. I even travelled once with a baby in the back (belonged to my ex-girlfriend, not mine). Plenty of room for the baby seat and all kinds of extra stuff.

Very very smooth rides, once you drive one you'll know what I mean. I still miss my Skyline.

Congratulations on the new car! The family-sedan styling is not for me, but I have complete respect for your car's capabilities and performance. The thing is, your could have had something like that the entire time you were driving the minivan - there's no reason why a child seat can't go in a Subaru, and I think those have a decent trunk for groceries and such stuff.

I was in a similar situation as you, Wife was pregnant and I wanted a car. It was a literal "race against the clock" situation to buy something before the baby came. Ended up with a Honda S2000. Huge Thumbs Up, if you ever get tired of the four-door.

Cool Skyline, an unusual car. Haven't seen many of those, if any.

Reminds me of the G35 from Infinity. Might have bought a G35 if not stuck on convertibles. BTW, have you seen the new G37? Wow! It seems that nowadays most car makers don't want to put any effort into coupe designs, but this new Infinity is very nice!

I talked to a 74 year old, grandmother of 12 last month. Her ride. . . .a tweaked 2008 Volkswagon all-wheel drive R32. :D We talked about go fast cars for over an hour. Man, she knew her stuff.

Gig, I thought I warned you about fishing for tail at the nursing home. :p

Nice ride, SbC.

Nice ride. My sister's got a Dodge Neon SRT-4 and it's a rush to drive. I can only imagine how the AWD would stick to the road.

I just checked and it seems the Skylines (Infinity) that are sold in the US are different from the Skylines we know here that are straight from Japan.
They seem to share the name Skyline, but not much else.

But I think Roger means the Japanese type because he said Skyline GT-R and the new GT-R sold in America is not called a Skyline anymore.

Anyway here's some info on them. Seems accurate:

This is the Skyline GT-R we know around here (and is usually shown in video games and so forth):

Mine was an R-32 generation (1992), here's the GT-R version of the R-32 you'll see it's similar to the back end of mine:

Those of us who drove this type of sportscar were called "Aliens" (due to the name Skyline). That's something that started in Japan and Taiwan. It was the car to have. Now this car (and in particular the R-32 generation) is seeing another wave of big popularity due to that new motor sport called "drifting". The R-32 Skyline is extremely sought after among drifters, they're becoming very scarce. I should have kept mine.

on Gran Turismo, the R34 was just awesome. this is where a lot of us found out about things like the STi and Evo that we couldn't get over here until 2003

the Nissan Skyline over here is the Infinity G35

the GT-R version is just going to be a Nissan GT-R though (i guess this would be the R35)

they look to be just under $70k

i think i'll be fine with my STi for a while ;)

Nice STI! Cute pink stickers, too.

I have an 18 month old boy and have been primarily driving an SUV for the past year . . but I need to keep my fun car around, too.

1994 Toyota MR2 Turbo
2.0 liter 4 cyl turbo midengine
200 hp, limited slip differential
2,700 lbs
fun stuff!

That is a really good sportscar brewthunda. My first car was an '86 MR-2, and then years later after selling my Skyline I bought my father's '92 MR-2 before giving it back to him a few years ago. Lots and lots of fun!
