Mike Satre of River City Sheaths?

I finally got in touch with Mike Sastre today via telephone. He apologized for the delay and promised that he would finish my sheath and get it sent to me this week.

Patiently waiting...
 
Chiro has it right, though I do believe some kydex is magical in use, but a plastic sheath is a plastic sheath.

I have had really good experiences with Okuden, found here in the maker forums, as well as thru the Busse site, with Eric of On/Scene Tactical and though I have not tried one of Chiro's sheaths out, I can certainly vouch for the character of the man. Buy Brown certainly has a pile of sheaths out there and while I prefer other guys to his work, he has a pretty dedicated client base.

Six months to a year is a long time to wait for a knife in some folks' book, but for a plastic molded sheath, especially if paid for, way too long period.

Give any of the guys in this thread a call/ email and they will take care of you pronto - hell, Eric had an order for 1000 sheaths from a factory and he told me to "call him in three weeks." I thought that was really up-front of him and appreciate this sort of integrity.

Eric and Okuden were both consumate professionals and took way longer than necessary with me, not in the creation of the sheath, but in conversation with me regarding the product and what i wanted and needed from the sheath. This is the sort of customer service I am happy to give my money to when it comes to carrying and protecting the blade and myself.

I've had a Sastre sheath and while it was pretty nice, it came with the knife and was not something I would have waited six months for. Very nice workmanship, but not worth six months, especially without comms.
 
6 months! I wish it were only 6 months! I ordered the sheath on June 14, 2004 .

I wouldn't have waited either, except I had no choice. Sastre had my money! :thumbdn:
 
i gotta say I'm rather relieved I've decided to not place an order with him after not receiving any replies to my email. and this was after being asked by him to email for a quote in one of the threads on this forum.
 
Well, I've been calling for three weeks without getting in touch with Mike Sastre. Then yesterday I went to my mailbox and got a pleasant and long awaited surprise! My sheath!! Finally! And it was everything I hoped for. Better late than never! June 14, 2004 to November 14, 2005! Not quite 18 months!
