I disagree...... (Every Dozier knife I've ever seen, though very well made, looks exactly like a Loveless)

I think Snody's knives are great. I can't afford one of the customs, but I have a Benchade Gravitator and I like it a lot.

1. If you think Dozier knives look exactly like Loveless than you are either blind, or have simply not looked at, and held, enough knives to make this statement.

2. I hope someday that you can afford one of Mike's custom knives, and that you go out, buy one, use it, and tell us here what you think of the overall experience.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

The one thing that you will find here Mike, is that Just like Steven said, Makers are fair game here. But it is very one sided. Anyone with a key board is expected to have an opinion, but a Knife Maker isn't allowed an opinion at all. Unless to blindly praise every thing posted. It is felt that for a maker to have an opinion, especially a negative one, is trying to excel by putting someone else down. They don't seem to understand, or get it at all that we became knife makers not only were we into knives much more than the most ardent self proclaimed expert collector here, we have very strong opinions about what we do. And why we do it. But we are supposed to keep our mouths shut, notice nothing. Suggest nothing. Disagree with nothing. The world is a sweet and gentle place. But any one of them are expected to disrespect, or puts down anyone of our works at any time. Well, a lot of them are just that. Self important collectors that don't have a clue why or how we do the things we do. All they know is what look good. (to them), Stress risers, Notch sensitivity, balance, and execution to them is as foreign to them as grammar is to me. Mike

Sounds Great,

Makers whose families rely on their knife sales to Survive are Fair Game!!!

Really!!!

Haters are fair Game where I come from.

You would do well to remember that my friend!!

I will see you in Huntington Beach.

Well....you will not be in Texas when you come to Huntington Beach, you will be in the People's Republic of Kalifornia(a much different place)

I posted IN MY chosen forum how I FEEL about your work. I didn't say it was crappy, I didn't say bad words about you as a person. The people who spend their HARD EARNED money, and ask a question such as:

hirokatsu said:
Hi im going to get a mike snoday knife when he starts taking new orders again and I would like to know what you guys think about his knives and mike norris stainless damascus.

have a right to all opinions expressed here. I can see you getting all jumpy if I said it in your forum, but that won't happen, not because I am afraid to go there, but because I don't have any interest. If that results in one or more less knife sales for you, well, telling me to STFU or calling me a hater, is not really going to change much.

Great way to convince me that I should buy a knife from you, BTW.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Moonwilson, Dozier knives, " ARE-NOT-EVEN-SIMILAR-TO" or anywhere near the level of sophication of a Loveless. When is the last time you saw a normal Dozier with a guard. When is the last time you saw a Loveless without. The biggest thing they have in common, is that they have handles. Mike

1. Lovett, I have stuck up for you a bunch of times on these Forums.

2. Knifemakers express opinions all the time here, without getting shut down. You have a hair trigger on certain subjects, and don't like getting called on it.

3. I have never seen a group of people(knifemakers) appearing so vastly superior to the lowly collector who ponies up said hard earned cash purchasing their wares. I'm not going to take what you say personally about "Self important collectors" Mike, but you have NO idea what I do and do not know about them. It might surprise you. I know exactly what those fancy words you jist typed up there mean. How about lateral stress, carbon migration, cold shunts and kizu? I even threw a foreign word in there for you.

You know it seems every time an opinion is ask your forth point of contact seems to open up , Thats a Airborne term something i am sure you no nothing of but could probably comment on . I too have seen makers get beat up in this place you call a community. I come back from time to time to be reminded how good i have at some other place's. So take a moment and really think if your opinion means squat. I really pitty you , why dont you give it a try go ahead and make something beautiful, usefull and self- fullfilling not to mention make a living at it, Really give it a try.

Further more when a maker attempts to defend something then he is label as too sensitive.......Bullshit after 9+ years in the army i am any thing but sensitive.......So Mr coldsteel give it some thought before you go trashing someone livelyhood . Can you tell us noobs how it works Steve? If you stick up for someone, are they supposed to pay homage to you? :barf:

I like reading your posts sometimes, but you sure take your (verbal) sword out of it's scabbard an awful lot. You should take your own words to heart- your sword will be much sharper when you do use it as a result.

Steven, You are defiantly not one of the folks that I'm referring too. You actually know the kraft. But I think you will agree, that isn't a requirement to engage mouth here at blade forums. I've never been around so many rude people as here at bf. Being a southerner, I'm just not used to it. Hey Spence! Calm down Bro! It'll be OK. You gott'a have really thick skin in this place. Back to Steven, If I could only till you why I have such a hair trigger, regarding two makers. It's sickening. Mike

Hey Ranger,

Easy on that "no nothing" stuff. You aren't the only one with a set of wings. Several of are aware of the "fourth point of contact." Careful not to put your head to far up it.

Even among the tactical cognoscenti, I don't think that either Blackwood or Snody knives will stand the test of time(over say, 5 years or so).

I have never handled a Snody. Based on pictures I like them, mainly his japanese inspired designs, but I can't comment about their quality.
Now about Blackwood. Speaking of fixed blades only, I must disagree with what you said. I had a Mini Melee (D2 blade silver G10 handle) and it was my best fixed blade regarding fit, finish and design. I had to sell it to finance an expensive purchase, and it sold quite a lot higher than what I paid for. I wish I kept it. I feel that a maker who makes a blade that good (perfectly symmetric grinds, very homogenous finish, crisp lines, great edge) will stand the test of time.

Spencer,

1. I sort of made my point clear in that other post.

2. I know nothing of Rangers or their lexicon, so don't comment on them. That said, a real close friend of mine, who helped me out after I did my "4 and a wakeup" in the Navy, was a LURP in Vietnam. 1st guy over there to be given a beret. Has shrapnel in his back from a mine that exploded, and has 4 fused vertabrae which gives him almost no mobility.

3. Harassment is when I go looking for You, and am an a-hole. You marched right into MY living room, and plopped yerself down on the sofa. I'm not going to come looking for you, I'm too lazy, and it is not that much fun. In this Forum, it is called feedback or an opinion.

4. If my opinion means nothing, than why are you and Mike getting all agitato? Actually, my opinion means a fair amount to makers, collectors and production companies. You want to minimize that, because you were not on the complementary side of the feeback at this time.

The opinion can't be minimized, and it is not for sale.

I served in the Navy from 1988-1990, and started collecting handmade knives in 1985, I go back a ways, have had some great help along the way, and am just trying to pay it forward. Plenty of people look out for the makers, but not too many do for the collectors.

Lessee, out of the 12 people that are viewing this thread right now, I am fairly sure that you have convinced 4 not to buy any of your knives, and if they do have any, to sell them, before you go visit the looney bin.

This is one of the things that I Love about B/F. You wouldn't find this kind of thread anywhere else. One week were told not to buy knives as investments. To buy what you like. The next, Don't buy what You like. It won't go up in value. What f--king Horse sh-t. We make knives because we love knives. We study our craft, put our health on a back burner for it. Our families on the back burner for it. In truth, just about everything takes a back seat to our obsession. We want our products to be not only used, but to excel at what they are designed to do. Then comes along the Dealer. I always wondered why Bob hated dealers so much in general. Now I know. Nothing you do, nothing you produce, no matter what the cost to you, your health, family. Matters. Only the bottom line matters to many of them. Especially a lot of the high end dealers. You are a commodity. A thing to be exploited. As a person, you don't exist. The reasons most of got into this in the first place, along with the love of knives, is because most of us, especially the old timers, Lothe this way of doing business. Most of us are lone wolves. Who just want to be left alone to enjoy our craft. A lot of the new makers have grown up watching this Greed fest, and have gone into the business for all the wrong reasons. It's sad, and demeaning to all makers true to the craft. WWG. Spence wasn't talking to you. I am. Mike

Mike,

You are really getting irritating.

I never looked at your knives before, do you think posting your address over and over is going to change that.
