Milan Mozolic - I finally got a knife

I’ll share final thoughts on this whole experience when I actually have the knife in hand. For now, my advice would remain as I’ve indicated above:
- I don’t personally have doubts about the quality of Milan’s work.
- If you want to order an already completed knife from him, I think you can probably do so in confidence. I’m not sure if he’s been selling on BladeForums recently, but that’s probably why he has only positive ratings - because his BF sales were completed knives.
- If you want him to make you a knife to order, expect serious problems.

I don’t have a problem with being “that guy” myself. This thread was firstly a way just to let off steam, and secondly to try to put on some pressure to complete either the order or refund, but finally to share information within the community because otherwise what’s the point?

Thanks Brummie, that was what I was trying to get at in my pre-edited reply and my subsequent new thread, and the type of feedback I was curious about.

It is a gorgeous knife, I hope it’s alll and more than you had hoped for and that you do enjoy it given the journey.

Jacks up the good vibes though, having gone through all that.

For the record, you were more than justified. Appreciate the heads up.

Well I wish I saw this thread before sending him money...

First let me introduce myself as it's my first message on this forum. My name is Amaury, 39 from France. I got interested in custom knives by watching some very talented guys on youtube.

I first saw Milan's work on a well known web boutique in France. I followed his work on Facebook and one day he posted a knife that I really liked and decided to buy it. Everything went fine, fast delivery and, let's be honest, the knife is really nice, very clean work and reasonably priced considering the materials used. So I asked him if he could make me an another one....all the good stuff, mammoth molar, feather damascus blade and mosaic damascus bolster. He said it was ok, only two knives to make before mine so I confirmed the order and sent him 700 Euros as a down payment on February the first.

After maybe 10 days he showed me a picture of the molar he recieved for me, everything looks ok so I just waited. The first thing that seemed weird is that he kept adding new knives for sale on his Facebook, like at first you just say ok he finished knives he started before my order or a client canceled his order but after six or seven knives...Then, when I contacted him again maybe three week ago, he told me that he was working on it but he would be finished in two weeks, of course nothing, then two more weeks and I'll will send you a picture on monday ect you know how they do. Then yesterday I told him that I'he had enough and asked him to do the knife now, he didn't really like that and said that basically it was up to him to delay the production if he had to.

I don't understand what's wrong with guys like him, instead of being thanksful to have returning customers they decide to play stupid games and hurt their reputation.

Thanks for your attention,

Amaury

Sorry that you have to deal with this. About the part about what is wrong with him, I always ask myself the same with people like this. He could be an addict. Or perhaps he is a narcissist or sociopath who gets off on the power he has over people. That he likes to play these games and feels empowered. This is because he thinks he is smarter because he can fool people and let them in his mind beg for their own knives. Or he just has weak impulse control and doesn't have the discipline to finish the knives but does want the money, or all the above combined. One thing is for sure: He does not care about his future self because his life most likely will get worse and worse. He could have been a great and respected knifemaker. My bet is that he is reading this. So Milan, if you are a sociopath or narcissist (read the definition and see if you fit the criteria), nothing I am writing is going to bother you. You are what you are and can't change. It is up to the rest of us to don't give you a chance to hurt us. But if your problem is some kind of addiction, get help and make things right. If you are a narcissist or sociopath, you will use that as an excuse also, so be careful, people.

Sorry you're having a bad experience. I hope you get your knife eventually, but sadly, I think it is likely to be a very long and frustrating process.

He’s definitely a pain in the ass to deal with! He finally came through for me awhile back the positive thing is his work was outstanding fit and finish was spot on and holds and takes a beautiful edge. I’d buy more of his work second hand but not direct Iv learned my lesson

It seems that the last message I sent him helped, two days after he sent me pictures of the finished knife and I received it today. I'm glad the situation got resolved so fast. I'm not at home, will take some pics later.
