Military pics outside, in use, or just looking bada$$.

Every time I pop in to this thread, I feel the urge to go outside and stick a knife into a tree...

Hahaha.

This thread is like cruwear lovefest!

I feel like I'm missing something...and those grey scales are sweet too!

I love this thing! I Can't believe I waited so long to buy one. Everyone should have a Millie. In cruwear of course!!

So I had the sharpmaker out trying to get my seb back in working order and I decided to take the Millie to it just for the heck of it. I marked the blade with a sharpie and took it to the 40 degree setting and it was not taking anything but the very first part of the edge.

So I switched it to the 30 degree setting and it took a full wipe of the edge from both sides removing the sharpie. Is the 30 degrees inclusive common for these Millie's? I thought the last two I owned were at 40. I can't say that for certain.

What are your guys thoughts?

Thanks
Mark

On the Sharpmaker instructional video Sal says they try to sharpen all their knives with a 30 deg inclusive edge from the factory. Both my PM2 and my Millie came a little more obtuse than that, maybe 32 deg or so. I sharpened them on the 40 deg setting a few times each because I wasn't have much luck on the 30 deg setting, but I eventually reprofiled them with the diamond rods to 30 deg inclusive. Now I can sharpen both on the 30 deg setting no problem. I'm not really a fan of micro bevels, but to each his own.

I hear you. I think it slices like crazy at 30 without doing the micro bevel. Not sure it could get much better than it already is.

Post up some pics of your Millie!!!!

There's just something about the way CruWear suits the Millie. I love my CruWear Manix, but I feel it suits the Millie better for some reason. It's a match made in heaven as far as I'm concerned.

Sorry Giz! I just saw your question about the pf9 clip. It works very well for me. I am very thin and holsters are difficult for me and print very bad. I am 6 foot tall and have a 30 inch waist and you can always see the bulge when I have a holster so this way it actually disappears. I do keep the chamber empty when carrying it that way but that is fine by me. I also pocket carry it in a Nemesis and when I do that I keep a round in the chamber. I originally put the clip on it so I can clip it inside waist belt on my pack when backpacking which works great.

Here we go!!!! I carry this one a lot. :)

Not doing anything bad ass yet, but I love this thing. This is the trio as it stands right now. The one on the right is getting passed on to a good friend that once unknowingly bought what I believe was a fake Military years ago and we both hated it, turning me off to the Millie for years. He deserves the real thing.

It's nice to have a pair and a spare, but these two will keep each other company just fine. Love these knives.

While I've never handled or used the manix, I would agree that this cruwear suits the Millie perfectly!

Thanks for the info. I've been on the fence about one for line. I carry it IWB with a Tommy Theis hybrid. I always have one in the chamber. However, when I carry my lcp wit the clip, the chambers empty.

I was turned off for a lot of reasons in the past on this particular knife. I think I got caught up in the fact that it looked huge, and only had a loner lock. But it fits my XXL hands just right.

I think about getting a 2nd cruwear to toss in the safe. I just love this knife. I really enjoyed the s30v but am in love with this steel. Just amazes me everyday.

Thanks,

I have a couple others but this one gets most of the pocket time.

Although I'm anxiously awaiting the KW Exclusive S90V Military , I'm still on the look out for when Spyderco will be releasing the next batch of S30V Ti Fluted Militarys. I'm hoping the Ti handles are a bit darker than the last round. But I'd buy one regardless.

Out in the garage. I had to take it apart and do some deep cleaning after this. That is blood and it did bite me, should have been but wasn't wearing that glove.

Hopefully it didn't bite you too bad...my CruWear Millie has bitten me as well (One of two Spydies that have in over 10 years...plus an Olfa utility knife once lol).

Not too bad. My car failed to start the other day, and my positive terminal was very corroded. So corroded that when I went to loosen the bolt holding the clamp on the post, the clamp just fell apart. There was also another smaller wire tied into the positive side that was corroded to where it just broke off too. I was using the Military to strip the insulation to re-crimp a ring on it and just skimmed my thumb. Didn't hurt at all, just took some pad off, and bled some.

All the nastiness on the blade is from cutting back electrical tape, a silly rubber cover that traps the corrosion in, and those stupid fabric red and green anti-corrosion pads people put on their terminals. I swear that setup accelerates the corrosion. I only use dielectric grease and no cover and that has always worked and worked for long periods of time.

After cleaning it up, there was some haziness near the edge. I had to get my magic rust eraser out to remove it. I think it was adhesive from the electrical tape I cut, but not sure. I did see a few red rust spots that easily came off too. Some nasty stuff that white-blue battery corrosion!

Heh...a fingertip pad laceration (Also light but lots of bleeding) is the exact way my Millie cut me...middle finger though, while trying to peel some packing tape off the side of the blade. Should have done so while sitting still, but was walking at the time and stepped into a rut that I couldn't see beneath the snow. Live and learn. And yeah, battery terminals on vehicles are so "Mickey Mouse" these days it's pathetic. First thing I do on all my vehicles is cut them off and crimp some solid terminals on, and give the whole setup a good coating of Kopr-Kote to prevent corrosion and promote good connection.
