If you had to choose between a any Mini Griptilian and any Delica variant which would you choose and why?

I have both. I like the min-grip better because it fills my hand better.

But that is a personal preference thing. Both are excellent knives with very good steel.

You can't go wrong no matter which you choose.

Delica all the way. I like the min-grip and it like the Delica is a good value, BUT once you get used to the Spyderhole opening it's hard to go back. I like Spydercos bladesteel better, I just like VG-10 better than anything, and prefer the simplicity of a lockback. Also the Spyderco is thinner and carries better in the pocket IMO. But honestly you can't go wrong with either, both are top notch and a great value.

Both are great knives; really about equal in build quality and materials quality.

I like the Delica better, mostly because it's a slimmer, more comfortable carry.
Also it's available with a fully serrated blade.
Favorite versions are the ZDP-189 fully serrated edge, and the VG-10 plain edge.

The Delica... I've handled both, but I chose to purchase the Delica. I like the slim profile better, and the quality of the knife is really good. I'm not putting down the Mini Grip at all, though; it is also a high quality knife. It fits well in the hand, but it's a bit fatter. I definitely like the Axis lock. I like the Delica's VG-10 better... I like them both, but right now I'm totally in love with my Delica :)

I was just cleaning my ritter mini grip in M2. That head to head with a ZDP delica makes for a tough choice.

Fortunately I have both and don't have to choose.

I guess if I did have to I'd take the delica. I just trust the design more I suppose. Ergonomics are better for me with the delica, Both high marks for quality.

The regular versions of both, VG10 delica vs. the 154cm grips to me strongly favor the delica in all the factors I look at. I just see Critter's version with M2 and better grinds and sharper out of box blade as being by far the best of the grips. Joe

i have both, and i like the delica more. it just feels more secure and more confortable in my hand, and the design of the blade gives you a really good angle to push your thumb against when you hold the blade while the mini grip does not really have much of a thumbrest. the delica feels like its stronger/sturdier/more durable than the min grip.

delica is one of the best all around pocket knives ever made.

I usually carry spyderco. exclusively...

But today I carried the s30v mini-grip and I liked it alot.

I'm sure when my g10 delica and my sage arrive the ritter wont see much use for a while.

Which lock is stronger?

Back lock or axis?

I'd go with the Delica because it's insanely light (1.9oz) and comes in ZDP-189.

Both the ZDP-189 AND VG-10 models are speced at 2.5oz. The Benchmade BM530 Lightweight, on the other hand, is 1.8oz  THAT's a light knife, no? Haha

I hav both. If I could only carry one, I would have to give the nod to the delica. It fills my hand better, is lighter, and carries better for me. I have to give a slight edge to the mini grip for fit and finish (no flames please....just going from the examples I have). I carry the mini grip more often because I have one with a yellow handle so it is easier to see when I drop it. All that being said, I really love the full size grip, but I can't carry it as the RR requires any knife being carried to have a blade of 3" or less.

The axis lock is supposed to be stronger than a lockback. I have both and prefer the minigrip for looks, bladshape, and with my sharpening skills it seems to take a better edge. There is always the made in USA factor of the minigrip, but where something is made is a non-issue for alot of people, and for me it only gives a knife the slightest of edges.

I own both and I like the BM much more than the Delica. The ease of one handed opening AND closing is there with the the BM and not so much with the delica. The BM seems more compact to me also. It's a bit more wider but that's ok with me.

I think overall the Delica is a much better looking knife, but looks mean little to nothing to me - I'm a function over form type of guy.

Both have a place in my pocket - The Delica is more of a "around-town" EDC and the BM is carried when I know I'm going to be in a situation where the knife will be in and out of my pocket quite a bit.

I have a strong feeling you'll get a lot more people leaning towards the Spyderco here just because they are so popular on this forum, but I do not feel comfortable using a Spyderco as a hard use knife, it just seems a bit weak to me. That's just my opinion and I'm sure it's a strong knife, but the BM feels like it's built like a tank. That AXIS lock is my favorite lock yet.

Good luck with whatever you get.

This is like asking blondes or redheads. I love them both. I have about 50 folders and the 555 Mini Grip with Spydie hole and my plain jane Delica get the most pocket time. VG10 and 154cm are my two favorite steels.

I've carried and used both for several years and I still can't decide which one I'd pick if I could only have one. I have several mini-G variants but the only one I carry is the Ritter mini. The Delicas are all VG10 & FRN. The blade on the Ritter mini is my absolute favorite shape for my uses and I really like the AXIS lock.

The VG10 on the D4 is my second fav folder steel (S30V is #1) and the D4 is a more secure grip and has better ergos for me.

Both are FRN with steel liners, which I like. The mini-G is a bit more cofortable carry in my pocket, the D4 is a bit easier to open and close one-handed. Both are insanely tough (I know... I've dropped mine onto the warehouse floor more than once with no harm done).

What to do... what to do...
