Mini paramilitary 2?

I've been a great fan of the Military families except for Paramilitary2.
Yes, You read it right. PM2 is the least my favorite. I admit it is an amazingly comfortable and utilitarian design as received by many. I just feel that all those improvements went into PM2 changed it into something quite different from the original Mili and the smaller mili I was dreaming of...
I hope this new version of mini mili is smaller than Para1. PM2 was not at all a mini version to me...

Thanks for making this new smaller version:thumbup::D

PS.
Please bring back to the Minimili the original military and PM1's blade shape. I didn't like the PM2's blade shape, more specifically the grinding angle made between the blade and the blade tang.

I've been wondering what my next Spyderco should be after picking up a BRG Dragonfly, which I love, and a Delica 4 in good ol' VG-10, which I also really like carrying. Now I know. I've handled the PM2, and I've had other knives about that size, but they just didn't get enough pocket time. A shorter PM2 2 would be perfect. Wow-- that's great news. Except. . .I was going to make the upcoming Lightweight Native 5 in S110V my next Spyderco, and now this is on the horizon. Oh well, guess I'll have to get both.

The first quality knife I ever bought was a Dragonfly in ATS-55--circa 1998 or so, I think. I actually still have that knife. I lost it and found it again after about a decade. I've tried a bunch of other stuff since then, and I've come to realize that for true everyday use I don't need an overbuilt folding knife that will baton wood or cut through a car door-- not that there's anything wrong with that. I also don't need to try and carry a knife that I'm afraid to get fingerprints on with aesthetics that makes it look like it belongs in a 19th Century New Orleans cat house. I had one of those, and decided after about a week that it was just not for me.

There's room for all kinds of knives in this world, but I'm looking for quality cutting tools that I can carry without being too overt or just in the way. There are a range of Spydercos that excel in that role. It's something few if any other knife manufacturers have managed to do. Too many times light or small winds up being inferior. I don't feel that's the case with Spyderco, and that's why I've come back to them. I also don't have any market research other than my personal preferences, but I agree with other posters who thought a smaller PM2 would be a very popular design, exactly in the same way the Mini Grip is more popular than the full size Grip--and I've been down that road as well.

A shorter blade PM2 (3" like Native 5) should be perfect for my pocket knife idea; I like its flicking much more than my Native 5!!! I hope it will arrive soon

Seriously, the PM3 proto felt great in the hand, I'll be picking up at least one (c'mon sprint runs!). Also, super huge thanks to both Sal and Eric for the in depth discussion about knives at Blade!

i'm still coming to terms with my new para 2 as i have just owned it for about 5 days now,the size of it is at the limit for me!but i would just love to see a smaller version of this knife, maybe 1 1/2 all around shorter would be nice!plus the M390 would be grate, and call it '' the mid para military ''....

See a quote from a few hours ago in this very same thread:

Sal has definitely hinted that a Military 2 is coming this year. Since the Paramilitary was introduced as a smaller Military a larger PM just doesn't seem likely.

The Military 2 is to have the multi position clip and other refinements. (I don't see how Spyderco can improve perfect) Is it just me?

This is what I want. A XL sized Military or PM with the PM lock and digi camo scales. Smaller blades have their place, I love my Chaparral when a big knife might scare people at a gathering or while I'm fishing but for EDC I prefer at least 3.5" and up to 4.5" :)

It's been another year. Any news on the smaller PM2?

Also, FDE, how does your Military have the the 4 corner clip mounts? Are those PM2 scales on a Military?

Those are both Paramilitary 2 models in that photo, no Military. The digicamo has a shortened blade with a rounded spine arc.

If I only could have one knife, the Para 2 would probably be it--but... It's a little large in the pocket for comfort so slightly smaller, lighter, less thick would be my personal preference. If this could be done by just eliminating the oversized lanyard hole, I'd be all for it, but I could live with a little less blade if it was necessary for the above refinements. In spite of my admiration for the Para 2, I end up carrying mostly a Delica these days and when I need more blade, I go for the Endura--I just prefer smaller slimmer knives, I guess.

A Mini PM2 would work for me. I want to like the standard PM2 but I just can't do it. It is just a little to big for my EDC needs.
