I'm looking for a sub 3 inch knife (2.9 to keep it legal). I find myself drawn to the Chaparral. Also diggin the Dice, but that blade is just a tad weeny (seriously, why make a 3.13 (Domino) and 2.5?).

I would love to see a Mini-PM2:

Same general design shape
Compression Lock
PB Washers
Bushing Pivot
FFG
2.9 inch blade
XHP or S35vn

I would go with a Delica4 if your looking for something just under 3" and wan't to keep it Spyderco. I'm sure their are others that will fit the bill, but if you don't own a Delica4 I would say go for it. Its a incredible knife for the money.

A Mini-PM2 would be bad ass and I would buy one up real quick.

The Dice is legal in Boston, for what that counts.

In a 3" blade I actually prefer the G10 Rookie, aka a mini Police.

I don't know if I could handle the compression lock on a smaller knife. I know it's been done (Salsa et al.) but I don't think my funny fingers could manipulate it. Maybe you could try to track one of those down to see how you like it?

Have you ever considered the Native 5? It doesn't have a compression lock, but it does have a 3" FFG S35VN blade. It's a very robust knife and one of my favorites.

that would make me want to sell my MininGrip.

Which I love because its D2 steel.

I would definitely buy 20 smaller PM2's. Would trash the mini-grip with the hole. I just wonder if Sal and Company have thought about that one.

Definitely consider the Native 5! I'm not a big fan of back/mid locks but it is still one of my most carried blades. I too would love a 3" blade spyderco with compression lock but I would prefer the hump-less spine like on the Native.

I got to handle the Chapparal for the first time recently. I absolutely LOVED that knife, ergonomics, blade profile, etc. If it wasn't so similar to my Sage 1, it would of made an excellent EDC.

Thanks for all your replies!

Was also just directed to BowerBladeWork's youtube page and he actually mods the PM2. Search for: "mini sypderco paramilitary 2"

It just so happens that I'm in the que to get one of my Para 2s miniaturized by Kevin at bowerbladeworks. I hope this isn't considered blasphemous in these here parts.:)

Hi TrojanSteel,

Making a "mini" of anything is far more involved than just shrinking the model. Unless the hand is also shrinking, it'a an entirely new design if ergos are to be kept.

Thanks Mr. Glesser. Would this be something that Spyderco would consider putting into production?
