Mini PM2

Say it isn't so! I really think a 3" Paramilitary or compression lock Native 5 could rival the existing PM2 sales. I know this is blasphemy but look at the popularity of the Benchmade mini griptillian. I think I am far from being alone in the thought that the PM2 is AMAZING but a little bulky and large for edc. That said I carry a PM2 all the time but only because Spyderco hasn't made the blade I really want yet ;)

If I wanted a smaller Spyderco I would get a Sage. I like slightly larger knives and actually the PM2 is one of the smallest knives in my EDC rotation.

Thanks Mr.Glesser for the response.

Is it just me or not, that its absolutely incredible that the owner of the premier manufacturer of knives IMO, (SPyderco) still comes in here and answers questions? It never gets ordinary for me.

FDE, I agree with you, I think a smaller PM2 would rival the sales of the PM2. That would be my perfect spyderco.

A mini PM 2 or Manix 2 would be freaking sweet :)

I'd take a compression lock or CBBL Native 5 as well...

A mini PM2 would be sweet though I'd be happy with just a shortened handle so the blade to handle ratio would be closer to 1:1 that it currently is. Somewhere between the Caly 3 and Caly 3.5 blade to handle ratios.

I have an original Paramilitary and the blade was a hair over three inches. I remember the complaints about the length then. I suspect that's one reason the PM2 was lengthened. I would love a 3 inch version as well but I'm not sure there's a market for it.

Honestly, I think a Sage with a compression lock and G10 handles would be close enough although I'd really love a Sage with the compression lock and titanium handles.

One of the best little big knifes has to be the dragon fly 2. That being said a mini para would go one my list.

I'm not speaking from experience, but do you really think a police officer is going to measure your knife, or simply judge your character based on the fact that you have any knife at all? Carrying a knife that is .2 inches over the "limit" isn't going to matter much if you're in a position where an officer is looking at your knife to begin with.

Considering the whole point of the Sage series, I assume we'll see a compression lock sooner or later. I'll take titanium or G10, I enjoy them both.

Hi TrojanSteel,

Making a "mini" of anything is far more involved than just shrinking the model. Unless the hand is also shrinking, it'a an entirely new design if ergos are to be kept.

The PM2 has the perfect blade shape for an EDC knife and the perfect lock. If the blade were kept below 3 inches and the handle correspondingly shorter it would be, for lack of a better word, awesome! I will start saving money if there is any chance of this happening.

Is the original paramlitary that far off from what you guys are asking for?

PM2 is 7/16" over 3". Suggesting breaking the law regardless of the likelihood of your blade being measured isn't smart (it does happen!); Especially when the consequence is a felony charge. Tell me how "free" you feel after you have a felony on your record.
Skyhorse - I couldn't agree more, changing the idiotic laws is the only logical option, but in the mean time knives under 3" are the safest bet.

Yep, that's why I said ORIGINAL PARAMILITARY. Blade length is 3.093 inches, a few sharpening sessions should have than down to less than 3 inches.
