Mini PM2

Mr. Glesser. I'm been on the same list for over a month. I decided to do this, because I have five Para 2s and wanted one of them to be different, and saw the utility of having a smaller Para 2. Having said that, I love the Para 2, and I find them perfect. I was(and am) intrigued by the novelty of a smaller Para 2.

Yea the reason i decided to have mine shrunk down, is because the handle on the para2 is too big for me i have tiny hands and would like the handle shorter to fit my hands better. I also like 3 inch blades thats about the biggest blade ill use in my edc role. The para2 is a great knife as is but will fit my hands/needs being a little shorter.

I like the idea of a 2/3rds or 3/4ths PM2. My PM2 has been with me almost everyday since I got it, but there are times when it may be nice to have a slightly smaller option of the same knife. I like almost everything about the PM2 except for the excessive handle length, for my hand (I wear a Medium Mechanix glove).

I don't have a Manix 2 or Native 5 or Caly to compare to, but I DO like the idea of a smaller PM2 and i would buy one for sure.

That mini PM2 mod is pretty cool. It's expensive but reasonable considering the materials and amount of work. Great excuse if you ever snap the tip on your PM2 :D

If we made the handle smaller, we have to eliminate the finger choil or force the user to use the finger choil, choice is gone. Blade to handle ratio is an "eye" thing, not a "function" thing. "Handles are for holding, blades are for cutting. A scalpel wouold not perform better with a shorter handle".

Personally, I'm in the camp that would prefer forced use of the choil on a mini PM2. One of the things I love most about the Dragonfly is that the finger choil allows for an excellent grip in such a small knife. I don't care about blade to handle ratio not being what I used to call 1:1 (1:1 in my mind means the blade is only 0.75" to 1" less than the handle length). I actually like a bit longer handle with slightly shorter blade these days. That being said, I would prefer a handle about the length of the Delica in a smaller PM2 if the blade is going to be sub-3".

Personally, I'm not sure what niche this knife would fill that the Native 5 doesn't, but it's a fun idea to discuss and play around with.

I have a native 5 that I carried for 10 yrs. One of the things about the native that I do not like is the lock back. Once I carried a PM2 and experienced the comp. lock along with a few other things about the PM2 I put the native away. I think it would pick up where the native 5 stops, especially for guys who have carried PM2's for awhile but always wanted it to be a little smaller.

I think a mini pm2 (pm3?) with a s35vn blade woild be as hot as the pm2 is even at 150 bucks street price.

I agree i think a mini para2 would sell like crazy. I wouldnt mind being forced to use the index finger choil either, i find myself using the choil on every knife i edc(native5,sage3,dragonfly2) i dont think people would mind. And if there is a time you dont want to use a choil for certain tasks, bust out the regular size para2. I also think a mini southard would sell like crazy too. Bowerbladeworks does a great job on those also. He has perfected those.

Exactly! I love everything about the Native 5 minus the back lock. I find the compression lock much easier to operate one handed. As I said before I'd be equally happy with a compression lock Native 6 as I would be with a mini PM2. The Native 5 is the perfect size for EDC in my opinion and I love the egos. With the Native 5 I use the choil 90% of the time but the handle is just large enough for me to use it behind the choil. This is what I'd like in whatever Sal makes for us! He he ;)
