Modern Traditionals....;)

Bought a second one of the little rascals in case of loss because the silly thing suits my needs so well. Oh well. Goodness is where you find it.
I've been thinking about buying a single blade to go along with my cap lifter version.

Guidelines for defining the "fine line":
Modern materials - OK - we do those anyhow.
Modern shapes - maybe.
Pocket clips - nope
thumb studs or other non-traditional opening devices - nope

You bet your bippy. (and points if you can ID the source of that one.)

How about locking blades?

Sure, that is the Birdy, a mid-tech build by French knife maker Sacha Thiel. It's based off the Native pattern with permission from Jared Oeser. Blade steel in M390 and spring is 420 AISI. 6al4v Titanium liners and canvas micarta covers. Closed length is 4" but feels much smaller in hand due to the very slim profile. The fit and finish on these is perfect! Every part is perfectly radius'd so there are no sharp edges and make for a neat imo stacking effect on the backspring. You can see the seams but you cannot feel them at all. If ordering direct from Sacha they can be had with either stonewashed or satin finished blades. Cover choices are stonewashed titanium, green canvas micarta and black G10. My first one was all stonewashed with titanium covers but I sold it to get this satin finished micarta and couldn't be happier. Hope this helps. :)

beautiful knife. I wonder if he could make a linerless one.

The Scamp was hand sharpened, it is a narrower blade than I preferred for my normal needs, otherwise I would have hung onto it as the sculpted Ti handles are a work of art and the walk and talk of the folder is spot on.

I sharpen in an unconventional way, I hold the sharpening stone in my left hand, pinched between my thumb and ring finger. And I hold the knife in my right hand, this way I can feel the angles of both stone and blade, works well for me but on that Scamp I went to get a better bevel for cutting and with the coating of the blade some errant stone fragments/dust did raise a slight mark here and there, but, she ended up cutting a lot better. If I had the skill and tools, I would have attempted to hollow grind the blade.

Yah, she ended up cutting well, the black wash treatment of the blade certainly can show up the slightest rub marks but, over time, it will all blend in.

A new-to-me Dunlap trapper. Linerless carbon fiber scales make it insanely light weight. Its getting all the pocket time.

Its so lightweight and thin compared to every other knife I own, but much longer than my regular peanut or #14 watch pocket knives. You get the light weight of a small knife with the longer blade and full grip of a larger knife. It’s great! I’m on the hunt for other linerless slipjoints now.

Nice looking knife Harbeer, if it were a lock back I would be in trouble. By the way, your kitchen knife is our go to. Great knife!

How about locking blades?

It depends on the lock.
Lockbacks are traditional, so no problem their.
But Walker liner locks, framelocks, and other modern locks need to be in the General Forum.
