Modern Traditionals....;)

This Moki also walks the line with VG10 blade and modern-ish blade design.

huh, interesting. I would have thought that was very traditional, just a clip point. is it on the line because the clip is less abrupt?

I consider it "on the line" because of the overall configuration of the blade and handle. If you compare the silhouette to that of a truly traditional design you will see the difference. Look at a GEC 42 as an example.

I do see it now. The indented bolster didn't even register in my mind when I first looked, that's certainly an unusual feature. Both very nice knives!

I love that knife! I carry one often, though I don't seem to have a pic. I really can't wait to get something to take pictures with this Christmas, my current cell phone camera just doesn't cut it ;)

So folks, let's take a step back from displaying knives with pocket clips and modern one hand opening features.

Thumb studs, or a hole in the blade meant for opening, take the blade outside this forum's posting guide lines. Serrations might indicate something out of bounds also, depending on the other features of the design.

"pocket clips can be removed". Please do so before posting the pic.

amen to that!

No clip, no thumb studs, lockback, stag handle. I quess my Lionsteel Big Opera is a "modern traditional".

can this one be included in this thread?

looks great :)

The slip joint has been around forever I think, and for the longest time that's about all there was in pocket knives. And fixed blades when you needed a bit more knife.

More and more, many countries seem to be going back to that, outlawing the evil locking knife to save lives and stop those crimes of passion. I think some jurisdictions here in the US are also adopting this model.

So more companies are offering models that are legal, for the moment, in such areas. This one is from Fallkniven. The U1 model with smooth yellow bone scales. 3G laminate blade steel. Slipjoint. Nicely made. Blade is easily pinchable for opening, but a nice feature is the nail nicks on both sides.

Spyderco has a couple of two-hand openers now...but...they both carry removable wire pocket clips. Thus, a no-no here.

Boker makes a very cool one the exskelibur small. Its a one hander disguised as a two hander with a nail nick opener and they essentially shaved off the mechanism that makes the original so novel as a one hander.

My favorite will always be my ukpk though I took out the pic I posted as it has a spydie hole. It hits on all other levels though!

Nice little knife! Thanks to you I looked it up, and found that it comes in cocobolo too.

Ix-Nay on the one handers.

Going to merge this with the "Modern Traditionals Thread.

I'm surprised that there aren't any alox saks or rubber handled Mora's and opjnels being posted up. I'm very interested in two out of the three as of current. I think I would still prefer a wood handled Mora over a rubber one.

Here's a couple I got last year that I really like.

Fallkniven TK3 and a small Moki Fish Owl.

I just got a couple at Christmas time, and like them both. The Mora was specifically to try the 12c27 stainless, which I do like.

Very nice :-)
However, you skated on a pin violation. Screws are ixnay too, at least according to some past violations. Enforcement is inconsistent however.

These are what I consider modern traditional, made within the last 10 years, but no screws, flippers, or thumb studs. And Just say No to Traditional blade wobble.
