Some amazing work, birdvis! Any chance of a thread with some work in progress pics in the Tinkering and Embellishment forum?, or is that giving away your secrets? It amazes me how you get all those components of the handles put together so perfectly.
Dan

Thanks Dan! I wouldn't be afraid of giving away secrets, I'd probably be more embarrassed to show off my crappy set up. I'm sure I'm doing everything the wrong way since I'm kind of just figuring it out on my own. I really have no idea how other people do it. I'll check out that thread, maybe start takin some step by step pictures and maybe show how I do what I do. I'm learn something new with every knife

Alright Glenn, I know you check this thread periodically. I've searched and searched the internet for pics of your TL29 cap lifter knife and could only find one picture from about 2 years ago. If you would be so kind as to post a nice shot of it up, that would be awesome. I'm plotting my rebuild of the old Kingston I ordered but can't find anything online to give me a reference. I haven't quite figured out how to grind the screw driver blade. I would love to get some advice from the master.

Hey Bird, that sway back is BAD!! Was it really an electricians knife to begin with??
Yeah it really was a TL29. Bent and shortened the spring. Redid the geometry of the holes, heavily modified the blade and did G10 liners instead of the brass, oh and the birdseye

Does this help?

Birdvis, can't see as how you could be doing too much wrong, as your final results look excellent! Looking forward to seeing some pictures of WIP on your multiple material handles.

I too would be interested. Just picked up a couple of TL29s with the intent of embellishing. Having never done this I would love some direction/advice.

Thanks,
Joe

So the mail just arrived. I got my Kingston electricians knife in. All in all it's in pretty good shape for being ancient. Good snap and plenty of blade left. Here's a picture so y'all can see what it looks like before I break it down for the rebuild

Well I also ordered some nickel silver pin stock to add in the rebuild but I received the dreaded "Delivered" tracking information with an empty mailbox. This is going to make the rebuild interesting

If you get too impatient, coat hangar wire works, too. :D
