Alright. How old are you, and what is your favorite handle material... I plan on seeing a pattern here.

Okay, 10 seconds later... I'm 21 and 2/3 years old, and my favorite handle material is black G10, textured like Benchmade does it.

I'm sorry, but its a proven fact that at a younger age, time progresses as a percieved slower rate. Therefore, it takes longer for me to get my knives. You're so lucky that your old and don't have to use fractions any more.

BTW, I know I'm like a month late, but happy birthday Steve, your looking sharp!

...and your mum didn't tell you to never ask about religious beliefs and who you vote for? But being old fashioned, I love attractive wood-handled knives.

I'm 37 and I like bone and stag handled traditional folding knives.

On tacticals I like titanium and G10 in that order.

I'm 30 years old, and I like either G-10 or Canvas Micarta as a handle material. However, I won't turn down Resiprene-C, Kraton, or FRN if the blade is to my liking.

G10, wood/bolstered, micarta for folders
Wood, leather, micarta for fixed

What's the pattern?

I like warm handles - from materials with good thermoisolation.

1. Stacked Birch Bark
2. Carbon Fiber.

For Clipits - thin knives to clip on jeans, titanium is best, because it allow to make handle really thin.

I also like orange color handles - bright color make it easy to find.

Thanks, Vassili.

Ok I see you are trying to see some trend by handle material and the age of the poster.

>30 and you like natural materials or stacked leather.
<30 and you like G-10, Micarta, or various other materials.

I'll just answer with:

Depends on the type of knife and what I will use it for.

19, favorite material is untreated wood. Kind of unpractical when it comes to moisture and such, but it feels worlds better than varnished wood and I take good enough care of my knives that it doesn't really matter. I don't get in many sticky situations.

For tacticals I much prefer Spyderco G10 to anything else I've tried, such as FRN, SS etc. Haven't handled a good micarta or Carbon Fiber at this point though.

Opinels with a nice sanding down is an example of what I like in my handles. The brass and wood combo of a 110 is very appealing to me too.

I'm 25, and it depends on the knife.

For knives that are actually going to be used(my work knives) than I want either G-10, Canvas Micarta, or FRN, as all of those can stand up to hard use.

For "dress knives" that will likely never do anything other than cut threads or open toys for the kids during the Holidays, than exotic woods, japanese style cord wrap, or stone inlays(a la SFSW) are perfectly acceptable.

Then of course there are other styles of knives that I prefer different materials on, but I assume this suffices for your research.

58, and generally I prefer wood but anything with a pattern will do to set off plain blades-micarta, titanium, ... or plain materials-bone, ivory, micarta with damascus blades.

i am 19 and my top 3 are
carbon fibre
micarta
titanium

i love g10 aswell

I'm 23.

I cannot pick just one handle material.

I like figured woods. Bird's Eye Maple, Quince, Thuya Burl, and Maple Burl are my favorites.

I also like good-looking synthetics. Carbon Fiber, Micarta, and G-10. Well, blasted G-10 doesn't look very good, but it feels good. Polished G-10 looks good.

At the moment, I am really liking Micarta in various colors.

I also think I have a titanium fetish.

I am not a big fan of FRN, stag, kraton, or "boring" woods.

I just celebrated the 28th anniversary of my 18th birthday, and I like pearl which is also my birth stone.

51,
Folders - Black lip pearl. Users stag.
