Mom told me not to ask these questions...

I'm 62.5589 years old. I like folders with titanium or other metals like steel or aluminum handles. Inserts OK. No problem with G-10, FRN, or Micarta, either.

Micarta is nice on fixed blades, wood or stabilized wood is fine.

I am suprised, though more *cough* old guys *cough* prefer the wood, stag, and other oldschool scales, the divide is not that great. Maybe I'll make a graph or a chart of this... thats 500 30 year olds for g10, 300 45 year olds for stag, one 97 year old for human bone, ...

Gotta chime in, I'm 31 and put me down for G10. Colored G10 is the coolest. After that it's canvas micarta, carbon fiber, then paper micarta. I saw some pistol grips recently that made from giraffe bone and they were gorgeous. I think giraffe bone would make some nice knife scales.

Giraffe bone does make a nice handle. I have a small caper with dyed giraffe bone, blue streaks running through it. The bone itself is polished and is so hard it feels like ceramic.

I am 24, and my favorite handle material is texture carbon fiber (which is basically like g-10 w/ pattern, for those who may not know).

Hey there I'm 24, and favour the weight and look of titanium and carbon fibre.

49. Black-lip pearl, blue mammoth or walrus ivory.

Also woods and stag.

Come to think of it, carbon fibre is nice too....
:D

Knife makers would do well to pay attention to this thread, and I hope they do. We all need a little more mammoth ivory in our lives. :D

60....1st and 2nd pick Mammoth Ivory ,inside or outside ,3rd pick Paua Abalone .... it don't get no better.

Yeah the Giraffe bone pistol grips I saw were super hard too. Sooo nice. I wonder if giraffe leg bone has to be so hard (dense) because giraffes are so big and heavy, yet their legs are so long and skinny. Nice bones. I think the legality of going out and popping off a Giraffe for his leg bones may be a bit dicey, though. Isn't there some sort of ban on exotic animal parts from Africa?

56 here. I'm partial to stag, burl woods and mammoth ivory.

I'm 17 and for folders I prefer polymers (Victorinox's cellidor and FRN/Noryl/Zytel for one-handers). For fixed blades, I prefer micarta to natural materials and G-10.

I must be 17 by now....

Handle materials must match knife style. But I love woods, got some Snakewood comming. :D
