Gentlemen, I have a simple question for you.

Living in Sweden, I'd like to know what you think of Swedish knives in general and in the later years in particular?

My feeling is that many of the traditional Swedish manufacturers/makers don't live up to their reputation any longer?

Best Regards,

~Paul~

Quite the contrary, they are well regarded here in the states. Fallkniven is a little pricey but I've never heard any negative about Swedish products. I've used many moras. No complaints.

I am a huge Fallkniven and Mora fan. They are very functional wilderness blades and well constructed. I like the steels that Fallkniven offers (and understand their philosophy) but would love to see them use other steels like 3V or Elmax.

I've a small collection of Mora knives. No Fallkniven (too expensive for me). Love the older Moras: Carl Andersson, Broderna Jonsson, Mattsson, Frost, K.J. Eriksson - their laminated blades are awesome. Don't care much for the modern Morakniv; don't like rubber and plastic (esp. the sheaths).

Mora still maintains a stellar reputation internationally. I feel the Fallkniven are sometimes overpriced, but the quality is superb. I have a Fallkniven PXL-WH arriving today, so I must think they’re worth it.

I have a few Moras and think they are great for the price. IMHO a lot of knife for the price. I love my 3 Fallknivens and would like more of them but the price of the non rubber handled ones is getting a bit out of what I want to spend for a knife.

I adore Morakniv but think they need to be cautious of releasing more thick-bladed knives. They're popular but they don't work half as well as their thinner models. I also think that as they pivot towards including more premium models in their lineup that they should consider sub-branding to help with consumers' cognitive dissonance around the idea of Moras that cost more than $25.

I don't like Swedish knives.

Fallkniven and Mora are amazing. Fallkniven are my favorite knives. I own a F1, F1 Pro, and HK9. My son uses a F1. It's true that the non-rubber handle versions are extremely expensive but I really like their quality and product so I splurged and bought an HK9 when I saw a good deal on one. Love them. I am currently rehandling my F1 Pro. I wanted to see if I could rehandle a knife successfully and the F1 Pro just had too thin of a handle for any long-term use with comfort in my XL hands. I plan on doing a whole thread on the handle job when I am done.

My HK9 (so amazing):

My F1 Pro (not finished on the handle yet, still gap filling a little then need to final sand and polish):

Yes, I believe Fallkniven blades are produced in Japan. That’s why Vg-10 and Cos are common steels for then.

A couple of years ago I almost bought a Fallkniven U2 until I found out that it was made in Japan. I have nothing against Japanese knives, but Fallkniven being a Swedish Company should have made it there. That's the same reason I only buy US made Spydercos...

But I love my Moras. They are my first choice when it comes to hard use. Great quality and value!
