Its certainly interesting to see you broaden your choices!

You certainly had a negative opinion about Moras before...

What changed that led you to consider them?

If you think about that, you will have a better understanding of what people like about them.
You certainly a very sad human being if you go around quoting all my posts.

I quoted them because, clearly you did not like Moras yesterday...maybe the day before. They were a no deal.

Now...you are considering one. Something must have "flipped" because now you are considering them.

Whatever that is that changed....that is among the reasons people like them.

Simple. And they are simple knives. Doesn't take many reasons to buy one at their price.

Let's not jab and pick at scabs. Stay on topic (the knife is the subject, not one another).

Ragnar, there's a lot of very good people on this forum that have a great knowledge of all things sharp. If given a chance they will help you and keep you from making years of bad purchases and wasting lots of money that you will never recover. They will be only too happy to help guide you and teach you. But a snarky troll like attitude is just going to push things downhill at a rapid pace.

Pull in the horns and just listen to the people here who are giving you good advise. This is a great forum with great folks in it, and you can learn a huge amount of you wish. Or you can alienate them and accomplish nothing. Choice is yours.

Yes. The Light My Fire is great. Will skin a bow-killed bear with no problem. Will even gut a slingshot-killed grouse. It will also start your fires. Get the red one. It feels good in the hand and is an excellent length as a hunting knife. Now, if you ever get the chance to actually go big game hunting, the best big game knife, for the money, is the Buck Vanguard.

LMF has a titanium spork that is designed properly. [remember I'm a metallurgist !]

Garber and 2000 knives have a straight handle , the only kind I will buy !

Why the Gerber over the Buck when you go into the woods?
What do you use either one for while in the woods?
How does either one work with your current fire steel?
And what about those two is missing (if anything), and causing you to consider the Mora?

The gerber is smaller, lighter, easier in and out of the sheath, more comfortable for fine work, and overall just cheaper. If I need to I can abuse it because of the price. The buck on the other hand is just so beautiful I don't want to ruin it. I just saw the Mora at a store near me so I just decided to ask about it. Could be a cool kitchen knife

I am thinking of getting a mora to go hunting. I can't purchase a gun in here, so all I'm gonna have is a slingshot and the trusty mora. Do you think I could kill a bear with it?

I think so. The best way to practice, is to go to your local zoo, jump into the polar bear habitat, and test it out.

I am thinking of getting a mora to go hunting.

Certainly is a confusing thread. Hunting, then cooking.

But I do like to hear about peoples' though processes when considering knives...sometimes I find something new to think about.

So, is there something about the Light My Fire Mora that made it an interesting kitchen knife as opposed to just a plain old Mora without a fireseteel? I guess I can't think of any use for a firesteel in the kitchen.

Some people have gas stoves

The most beautiful production 119 is the model in 5160 carbon steel, with the brass guard and pommel. That said, I'd forget all knives mentioned here and get the Victorinox Hunter XT. It comes with a nice pouch sheath for your belt and will take care of all of your woods needs.
