Mora Light My Fire

The most beautiful production 119 is the model in 5160 carbon steel, with the brass guard and pommel. That said, I'd forget all knives mentioned here and get the Victorinox Hunter XT. It comes with a nice pouch sheath for your belt and will take care of all of your woods needs.

Joe

Yea i have the one hand trekker.

Some people have gas stoves

Interesting. So what about the knife made you think it would be a good hunting knife, and what about it made you then change your mind to it being a good kitchen knife?

And does your parents' stove not have a "click click click" thing that lights it? And wouldn't showering sparks on the stove's surface tend to damage it? Have you used a firesteel to light a gas stove?

But I think he is looking for a kitchen knife that contains a fire steel to light his gas stove.

Usually when you hunt, you eat the meat afterwards
Also, I dont have a gas stove

Thanks i was thinking of that

So hunting knife or kitchen knife? Which one? This is General Knife Discussion is it not?

A "goof" thread would probably be much better suited for the Whine and Cheese subforum. It is appearing that that is what your intent is, even after the insults stopped.

I don't think you should be throwing sparks at an electric stove either

I'm confused also. I am less and less convinced there has ever been any intent in discussing actual knife content in this thread by the OP.

Again, seems like a W&C thread at best.

Which is odd, given the advice give to the OP earlier by Esav...

Seems like that was deliberately ignored.

Sire, you are hurting my feelings deeply by being sarcastic, questioning my knife use intentions, quoting and screenshotting everyhing. I am falling into a great state of depression, and i am less and less convinced that i belong on this website....

Have to agree with Marcinek that Moras are not the best kitchen knives, but they slice up meat pretty good! I bought a Mora, some years back, and don't remember the model number. It looked just like the 511. Ragnar, over at Ragweed Forge, had it listed as a 5" blade. It came with a 5 7/8th inch stainless blade. It took work to give it a wicked edge from back to tip, but it became one of my favorite kitchen knives for meat prep. It's terrible on raw carrots.

What if i kill the bear at night? I will need to get a fire going

Ah. So you are back to it being a "outdoors/hunting" knife, and not a kitchen knife.

Wouldn' you then be in a situation where you had your outdoors kit with you...the one that already contains a firesteel? And in the video you lined o describing that kit, didn't you say you always carry a lighter?

And also, in an earlier post didn't you say you would not carry a Mora in the woods because of its tang?

I believe discussing ones "knife use intentions" is precisely what we are supposed to be discussing in the GKD forum.

That's the case, isn't it?

What if my lighter leaks out? What if my other firestarter breaks or gets lost? What if my full tang gets dull or lost too? The answers to these questions are beyond human comprehension.

I might also mention the One-Handed Trekker doesn't have a saw blade. You must have that saw out in the woods. You can quietly clear shooting lanes to shoot your bear.

Almost as bad as they are for onions! Which is why I mentioned earlier that I felt they make less than ideal kitchen knives.

Though they are good for draw cut though meat. Actually my Companion IS in the kitchen...it has become my wife's dedicated steak knife. So much for making fuzz sticks with it.

But I guess the knife discussion is moot. Not what the OP was ever interested in.

Amusing. Well, enjoy your "knife discussion" thread...I don't see any point in feeding this any longer.

Really, as Esav advised, next time you should try W&C, I'm sure a thread along these lines would be quite welcome, well received, and you can use the type of insults you used at the beginning of this thread to your hears desire! Even worse ones!

You should try it. Sounds like exactly the type of interaction you were looking for from the outset. I'm sure the folks over there would love for ou to participate.

Good day.

Yep, onions are tough going with the scandi edge.

Ok, you have the model with the saw. You're good to go!
