I was so excited to finally get my first HD7 in from the man himself and this is the lock up on the first opening. Unbelievable. No more Emersons for me. I'm done!

What Lee said. Did you contact them about this yet?

No doubt it shouldn't have been sent out like that but if you give them a chance it will be made right for you.

Ouch - for a $400+ knife, you do expect a bit more care, maybe even a lock inspection.
I've moved on too....

Yes I called them right after opening the package. I'm sure they would make it right if I sent it in but I'm getting a refund instead. This isn't my first Emerson I've had problems with. Just can't go for this on a $400 knife. Worst I've ever seen.

It's crazy to see something of that cost leave the manufacturer like that. I understand some times small issues can slip threw but that is a big glaring issue to miss.

WOW! I would have never imagined anything like this would be sent out the door. Sorry to see and hear. I know EKI will make it right but do feel you in regards to this leaving a bad taste in ones mouth.

lol, definitely the buyer's fault for having unrealistic expectations of a >$400 knife:confused:

No disrespect intended guys, just saying that for some it's not "in the cards" to be an Emerson owner. Same is true of Harley's, Colt's and a number of other iconic brands I can think of.

No doubt, that is a poor example of an Emerson product if in fact that's the way it shipped (again, not disrespecting, just being cautious for all party's involved). That said, the lock would not allow unintentional closure.

I will add, that the title, "more emerson disappointment" is provocative IMHO. If I were the OP, I would first give the manufacturer the opportunity to do right. Going into their subforum in this manner is not how I would conduct myself. Yes, this looks like a definite fubar, and guess what? In life, such things happen. It's how both sides deal with it that is the measure of the person/company. Best of luck and no offense intended. :)

Ordinarily I would never start a thread like this. The HD7 has been my "Grail" knife for years. I've always loved Emersons. But this knife was so bad there is no way it was inspected before being shipped. The pivot was unusually gritty and the blade not near as sharp as previous Emersons. Also, that was the lock up with the knife being opened slowly, not waved.

Yes, that would indicate a defective product IMHO. One the manufacturer needs to be alerted in regards to. My experience is that Emerson will make perfect any item such as yours appears to be that is brought to their attention, much like I would/do with my business. But I would respectfully request that I first was alerted, not an enthusiast forum in the manufacturer's subforum. The defective product warrants no defense, but Emerson deserves the chance to make it right. I have received (only once thankfully) a defective Emerson, new in box, and was graciously treated to excellent customer service and a perfect product. I just had to be patient (cost me about 10 days sum total). That said, I understand your disappointment.

Some stinkers will slip through.
EKI would have fixed you up but you moved on.

Not trying to be a jerk, but why then the "more" in the thread title?
