• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

I do not have a name for it but it made me think of little birds getting bugs as the sun sets. while your BBQen on a hot summer night

It has been a very cool project and I am glad Dave accepted the commission for a very large knife. As for the pattern this is typical of the result I get when I tell a maker, have fun and do what pleases you. Dave I appreciate the thread and for sure they knife. It will be professionally photographed and either Dave or myself will post those pics when they are done.

Thanks, Jon

that damascus looks to me like a gill net. I'd call that knife The Salmon King!
Kind of a Pacific Northwest type thing:)

Thanks for collecting all those photos, adding captions and generally educating us all. Love your work my friend:thumbup:

Lorien,

I like "Gill Net' but of course that is Dave's choice. I have been up the your part of the world quite a few times salmon fishing. You have the best!!

Jon

have you fished in Sooke, Jon? Phenomenal world class etc and this year is apparently going to be outstanding.

sweet. 'Gill net damascus'- kinda has a nice ring to it!

Lorien,

I used to go to Buck's trophy lodge in River's Inlet, are you familiar with that location? About a 45 minutes float plane trip from Port Hardy. It has been great fishing there, usually we go late July early August.

As far as bat's in a gill net that I leave with Dave. However since I am a fisherman...........:D that may have biased the name.
