Moses on the Mount

I did a rendering of a "Becker" Bowie once. A little more dramatic is all. :D

Tracking number came today. I'm looking forward to this. The 20 was nice, but I'm definitely in the category of people who liked the prototype more than the looks of the 20. Now I'm hoping it has the performance to back it up. I'm. Not too worried about that!

Order placed ... I need another BK5!!! :thumbup::cool:

I really like the 20 but just can't pass this up. Besides, I really like the BK5.;)

Wow. Ordered Saturday, got tracking number Monday, received it today. I'm impressed. And I love this knife. I liked the bk20, but it just didn't do "it" for me. But the small subtle differences with this knife just really make it stand out. To me at least. I don't see this bad boy going anywhere. It seems a bit thinner, which shouldn't hinder its chopping ability, but will be beneficial in its slicing ability. The 20 always seemed more a dedicated chopper, while with this it would be a great chopper, but also a fantastic camp knife. Time will tell, as I've yet to use it. But these are my initial thoughts. Here's a quick comparison shot of the 29 with a junglas and FF 12" machete.

That looks good Jackal! The differences seem very subtle. Someone here said that the performance between the two was negligible, so I'll stick with my 20 until someone can compare the two and formulate an opinion of one compared to the other usage wise.

I'm torn. I love my 20 but always grab the 4 when I need that kind of tool. Argh!!!! I need an RBK. Who am I kidding. If these don't sell out in a week I'll end up with one. It is only a matter of time before I talk myself into it. :o

I would love to trade my bk20 sheath for that bk29 sheath though.

Im in the same boat. No matter how cool all the other beckers are I always grab my bk4. I compared the bk20 bk29 and my bk4 at the gathering and I still think the bk4 is the best. I thought the RBK would replace it but no the bk4 is perfect.

I know the saying around here is "you can't not have a 9" but I sold all my bk9s for a trunk full of bk4s.

I love my bk4 too! I also love my 20 and my 5. I guess it depends on the mood I'm in which determines which one I love the most for that day! I have a use for all of them and they are just so satisfying to use and abuse!

bfk and kj, I'm in the same boat too. I like the 9 so much I've got 4 of them but almost always grab the Machax when I've got some work on the property that requires a blade or I'm going to be in the woods. I've been on a tear the last couple of years and can't stop myself from buying each and every one. My most used 4 is a Cincy. Other than it feels kind of cool sometimes to whip out a big blade, I've tried the RBK and the 20 and keep coming back to the Cincy 4 for an all'rounder. I'll probably order a Moses soon because, well, just because. I bless and curse the day I found this forum and Becker knives. (Mostly bless other than when I'm looking in my wallet.) :D

Agreed. I sold my 9s. I have a BK4 and love the darned thing. It's my go-to big knife. In fact every time I'm tempted to get another large knife, I look at the BK4 and say, "Meh, why bother?" because I've already got what is in my estimation, the best all-around large knife you can have.

I'm in the other boat... The Ka-Bar 4 didn't do much for me. I've used some of the other 4s and those were awesome but the Ka-Bar kind of felt, underpunched. I have 1 just cause I can't get rid of it (it was a prezzie) but I prefer my 9 or my 20, or my RBK, or my 5, or my other 5, or my other 5...

The older Cincinnati bk4 is for sure the best version, but I still love my my kabar bk4. Bladite said it best, "kabar made a bk4 they didn't make a machax."

At the end of the day as long as I have a becker in my hand its all good. bk9, RBK, bk5, bk20, bk29, even a bk7. They are all great blades and ill be happy.

the parkerized Machax spoiled me :>

got nearly all of them, but always go back to #1 :D

the wider nature of the new bowie is interesting, might have to scope one out

but, money is tight with future plans to work on my property, wood chipper, additional logging and tractor tools pre-bought

just waiting for the snow to melt (and the storms to stop - could have a foot coming friday :P)

My BK4, is great. Anything I need a larger blade for I can do with it. It's kept me from buying other large knives, well it slowed me anyways.

Nice! Your pic makes the 29 look substantially more pointy than the 20. Luckily, I have a very gracious member here sending me a 29 to do a side by side comparison with my 20. I can't imagine there being anything substantially different from looking at the pics, but I'll know more once I have it in hand.
