Mossberg Juct In Case shotgun

The only pistol grip shotgun I have any experience with was a 12" barreled 870. The guy who owns it handed it to me loaded with 3" slugs and said, "give these a try, one handed. I've been shooting them all morning."

It had a Knoxx specops type recoil system in it and although I still don't see a need for a PGO shotgun, I have to say that 3" slugs out of a 12" shotgun, one handed, was no problem at all. Even my girlfriend had no trouble with it.

So while I don't have any interest in a pgo shotgun I do have interest in those Knoxx stocks!

It wouldnt have been hard to put a colapseable stock or folder on the tube one. Wonder why they didnt. I guess its who they are marketing it to.

Because it would limit sales due to folding stock being verboten in some communist states/communities.

PG only shotguns are pretty much useless in the real world. Mostly movie shit.

IMO, get a pawn shop 870 for 150 bucks, chop the bbl down to 18in, and make your own tube.

Or better yet, skip the shotty alltogether and bury a 22lr.

The tube actually makes sense, especially for the Marine variant. Nice to have a floatable tube in a boat. Before someone asks why you have a shotgun on a boat, you use them with a line launcher attachment, among other things.

Of course, you can make your own with some PVC pipe, silicone and a couple o-rings. . .

Don't listen to all the girly men. A PG shotgun is just fine:D

In all seriousness though, I do own a mossberg with a pistol grip and while its not something you'd want to try and shoot all day, its not going to snap your forearm in half either. With the proper technique, you can minimize a great deal of the recoil.

As far as its usefullness, most times a full stock is going to be better. That said, if you are dealing with narrow hallways (as I have in my home) or a space/storage issue, a PG is just darn handy.

As with any firearm, get your hands on one and shoot it for yourself. Thats the only true way to determine if something is to your liking or not.

Good advice.

My father has a pistol grip pump, and uses it for shooting snakes that wonder up to the house. They have alot of copperheads on their land, and 9 small foster children. He likes it ok, says same thing as you, its handy in small spaces.

Seen em. Mossberg is doing some weird things with their shotguns. I saw one that looked like it had a 5in ported compensator/silencer thingy on the end.

Is this the one you're talking about? Looks like it would be a great movie prop. I wonder if it works well.

Could you not get some sort of muzzleloading blunderbuss with say a 2'' diameter by 12'' long barrel and just use that? If you're talking about last ditch defense and having to get the job done with little accuracy then that's the way i'd go. Either that or this:

ok...I have shot me a pistol grip AOW many times and am going to have a SERBU built for my patrol bag...and you cannot convince me that a short barreled pistol grip shotty is useless as a defensive tool...YOU as the operator have to know how to shoot it. plain and simple...its all operator.

I know many Motorjocks in multiple PD's that carry these in the saddle bags of the patrol bikes...I have qualed with a 3 rd'er at 50 yds and placed all rounds center mass...( i had to reload but i did it.) I have seen many officers run and complete the qual course with them routinely.

I think they have their place, but you have to understand this system and beware of its properties...

Useless, nope....great shotty, awesome little blaster...that will add firepower to even the most exposed officer like the motorjock. Not for everyone mind you.

these pictures are not mine....when i get mine i will post a picture of it. these are just for reference.

That thing is AWESOME.

'course I could get locked up for even looking at one in my state, but that shouldn't ruin your fun.

I agree with the fact that you have to know the proper technique. That goes with many firearms.

I have seen plenty of cut nose bridges from scopes and a lot of 1911 bites too.

Although I prefer a stock on a shotgun..I do see the advantage to a pistol grip in some situations. Carry in a car or truck, inside small quarters...the peoper use of anything comes with practice. Proper placement of the weapon can be used to reduce the felt recoil. You might not get long range accuracy out of a PG PUMP, but at close range..the cut down 3 rounders are pretty effective. I am a believer in 12gauge..in any format.
Now speaking on the Mossberg pictured, Although I have owned several Mossbergs..I would reccomend a Remington 870 (870P rocks) or my personal favorite in semi auto..1187P with an 18" cyl bore.
Mossberg is made with weaker materials and more moving parts.:thumbdn:

I like my Mossburg model 88 "Maverick" I paid $150 NIB & have used it for the last 5yrs with no hiccups. My Brother is an 870 Xpress man but ask him which one of the 2 holds a better/tighter pattern (MOSSBURG) Yes my maverick feels cheaper than the Xpress & Yes I really like the Xpress but for the money Mossburgis hard to beat  hereis a pic of the Tool :D

Shouldn't this be in the Practical /Tactical section ?

I don't see much difference in the Remmy vs. the Mossberg.

The Remington is finished a little better, but for practical purposes, the performance is about the same.

Either is going to fire thousands of rounds without a problem.

There is one point of preference to consider. Some prefer the Mossberg top mounted safety, others prefer the cross safety on the trigger gaurd of the Remington.

Sounds like your brother just needs to find the right choke and load(s) for his 870. I think the 870 comes with a Modified from the factory. Get an Improved Cylinder and a Full and try 'em all with several different loads.

We both used the factory tubes the first round & Winchester Supreme Turkey loads & then I have a Hastings Turkey tube & he had a Undertaker Turkey tube & used the same loads . The Mossburg still on top
Don't get me wrong I really like the Xpress better, it is a ver well made gun.
I'm just saying that for the money a mossburg is
