What brand in your view is currently coming up with the most exciting product in the knife world?

KAI these days is constantly pushing out new designs. There are some oddities but these days they are who I look to first for new stuff. Used to be Spyderco, but unfortunately I don't see the innovation in their product line that once existed.

Yup. Gotta say ZT is the one keeps catching my eyes and ears attention. This year and last.

I think Spyderco needs to up their QC game to compete with ZT in the high end production knife market.

My favorite is definitely ZT right now.

ZT. I wouldn't say that they're being innovative, but they are really putting out designs that are sexy and very functional. The 0450 obviously is an example of something that people were hungry for, and the 0808 is going to be another home run.

Huh? QC and Spyderco? Maybe I am missing something but I have 20+ Spydercos and have had zero quality issues, sure, they are not built with Sebenza tolerances in mind. Maybe I have just picked good ones.

Respectfully, how can you compare the two? Based on your recent thread your one example of a Spyderco is a Pacific Salt. Im sure its a fine knife but nowhere near ZT range. Get some experience with their high end models like the TI sprint runs(Military, Native ) or their Taichung models like the Slyz Bowie, Southard, or the K2 and then you can make a truer comparison between each companies high end products.
Also, look at Spydercos line. They cater to a much larger audience than ZT who is more of a niche.

On topic, the new ZTs are quite attractive. Im very excited for what is coming out of Emerson this year. Flippers, bearings, frame locks, and fixed blades? They are makng the right moves.

I just knew that this had to be the company to watch out for.
It was proof enough that here was a company that was willing to play the wildcard.
The kent onion period went well for a while.
But Now with emerson's name in the line.up, it just pushed the bar higher.
Great because not everyone is able to fork out a ton of money for high end stuff.
Which makes Crkt a top choice for reasonable quality and choice.
It really has something for everyone.

You have one Spyderco from a price range far below ZT that doesn't actually have any QC issues.

I really like Spyderco's new offerings: the Schemp Bowie, the Burch collab, the Farid collab. Zero Tolerance is fine but I see nothing in their lineup to compare to these.

I'm just saying it would be nice to see Spyderco come out with a brand or line of knives that could compete with ZT in terms of quality.

Haha, I had one of those through my hands. Super funky knife in person. The Spyker was another one that just made me love these two companies even more.

Just off the top of my head, out of what I've handled:

- Sage series
- Chaparral
- Gayle Bradley folder
- Domino
- Southard

Have all had near perfect fit and finish. Spyderco does have higher end knives, I'm not sure what you're talking about.

Kai has been killing it the past few years from $25-$400. No one else has done as much across that broad of a spectrum.

All of which are made in Taiwan. No thank you. They just won't compete with ZT knives made in the USA.
