Most exciting brand?

Zero Tolerance, for sure. While i don't yet own one, Reate seems to be doing some cool things with great materials.

I'm just saying it would be nice to see Spyderco come out with a brand or line of knives that could compete with ZT in terms of quality.

I haven't handled them but the Rubicon, Southard, Syslz Bowie, K2 etc etc certainly compete price/materials wise and they are all Taiwan made which makes the best Spydercos quality wise. USA Spydercos are pretty good and the Japanese ones are pretty junky for the price.

I would argue that the Delica or Endura for under $60 are pretty nice values. I personally like the Seki City products for the money.

All of which are made in Taiwan. No thank you. They just won't compete with ZT knives made in the USA.
I will put my Manix 2, Military, Para 2 up against a 350, 550, 301 quality wise any day.

ALL of which I actually own or have owned.

You have blind brand loyality based on one ZT ???

I've handled several ZT's and spydercos, and the ZT's are way more consistent in quality. It's easier to find flaws in the spydercos.

At the moment I will add +1 for ZT
I won't place the discussion on the QC point.
Spyderco, BM, ZT all offer premium , or at least completely acceptable, quality standards for production knives

but I see more innovation in ZT at the moment.
I feel (only a personal feeling here) that spyderco and bench made stay more in there existing product lines than ZT that seems to try new approaches
Maybe a strength a ZT is to be part if KAI, therefor it's strategy is to be considered with kershaw also....

Whatever, with lot of respect with all other brands I have to admit that ZT impress me more at the moment

But again, other brands have very specific products that are premium quality and price competitive
Compression lock, spyder hole, H1 steel, axis lock are only a few examples ...

My vote goes to Spyderco.

As a steel junkie, it's nice to be able to get CPM S110V, S90V, 10V, M4, 3V, XHP, ZDP-189, Elmax in production knives and M390, 204-P, 20CP, CruWear, Super Blue, K390, and PSF27 in sprints/limited productions. And all of them are at competitive prices as well. I got my S110V Native direct from Spyderco for $150, a CruWear Military for $140, my 204-P PM2 for $180, my K390 Mule for $100 including scales. Some of the other steels are a bit more expensive I admit, but they are definitely still worth it. Getting Ed Schempp or Farid designs with Spyderco's quality and steel is a bargain any day of the week for me

Give it a rest. You've made whatever point you felt compelled to make, and you're crapping all over this unrelated thread to boot.

That's pretty sad, I'm sure your house is half filled with products made overseas, and you won't buy one quality knife made in Taiwan that puts ZT to shame. It's your loss buddy.

Tell that to the guy who got a cracked ZT0560 blade replaced twice with other cracked blades. 3 cracked blades in a row. So much for ZT quality.

You're comparing knives from completely different price ranges, which isn't really a valid comparison in the first place.

How do you know which ones I've handled? Y'all are saying the high end spydercos are as good as ZT. I don't think they are based on the high end spydercos I've handled.

Which are... ? You still haven't specified which Spyderco models and which ZT models you directly compared. My money says it's because you haven't.

Apples and oranges here. Guess you either prefer form or function.

You mean the guy who made a fantastical claim and then never backed it up or replied to anyone's questions. Yeah, that seems like it really happened.

It would help if your Spyderco QC thread didn't come off as a complete newbie when it comes to Spyderco i.e. "people rave about them so I decided to try one" sounds like someone who hasn't even handled one, much less a high end one. But that may just be poor wording on your part. Usually if you've handled even lower end ones, you can see, in some aspects why people do or do not rave about them.

For the record, my vote would also go to ZT as most exciting even though I only own one ZT knife, and I tend to carry Spyderco, Kershaw or BM, which are also favorites of mine.

I'm a very big ZT fan, and prefer that brand for style and local pride reasons (I live within walking distance of KAI). Still, I have to say that my Manix 2 G-10, made in Golden, CO, is very high quality. No flaws to speak of, built tough, it had a nice edge from the factory, and S30V in a US made folder for around $100 doesn't suck. :)

I mean, they provided pictures as proof. Not really sure what else they can do.

I'm not 100% up to speed on that but I don't really see any reason to not believe them. I personally like Spyderco a lot but I wouldn't immediately dismiss somebody having issues with them because of that, especially if they provided proof.

And before I get called on that, I'll point out that knife117:

- Didn't provide a picture showing the issue.
- Even so, an ever so slightly uneven grind is completely different than a cracked blade.
