I'd expect a softer knife with that HRC would be more likely to survive what he's doing with the knives, but as you say, do I want one?As everyone has stated, there is no such thing as an indestructible knife. With a blade of 54, 55 hrc hardness and enough thickness, you can give joeX a toy to play with for days, but I don't think that would be a good knife.
I think the video could go to the next level if Pete (Cendric & Ada) co-starred with Joe X, while playing his Uncle Randy persona. Have Advanced Knife Bro narrate it and you could have a Masterpiece for the Ages. What if Joe X and Pete at Cedric & Ada colaborated?
What's the most indestructible knife that can make 100 rope cuts by Cedric & Ada standards?
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. He may spend days trying to break a knife-looking piece of metal and even fail anyway. In this case, are we going to call this thing that can't even cut fruit the best knife? I don't think that's in the job description of a knife. I love sturdy, durable blades. Thick blades look great to me, but I still don't expect that. When a knife comes out of basic tasks intact, it should still be able to cut something. It should not fall below 59 HRC.I'd expect a softer knife with that HRC would be more likely to survive what he's doing with the knives, but as you say, do I want one?
More like guns being thrown against a brick wall, testing for toughness and durabilityWatching knives be destroyed would be like watching World-Class Models punch each other in the mouth; with brass knuckles...![]()
The folding knife that made it all the way in the Joe X test was the Cold Steel SR1 Lite. The only issue was the pivot screw loosening up. For under $50, you can buy both this and the Mora Robust Pro (fixed blade that also made it through the Joe X test to the end). An indestructible duo (fixed and folder) which will perform very well as cutting implements. Ironic given how cheap both are, beating out very expensive knives in the over the top destruction tests. I own both and they are both superb in their own wayGreat read this thread is! I would be curious to see this broken up into two different categories... fixed and folding. I don't any folding knife could ever meet any truly hard use such as what this JoeX guy does, but it would be cool to see which ones made it the furthest. I love destruction videos of guns, would love to see more with knives too.
