What is the most inexpensive folding knife that you would trust your life with in a survival or self defense situation?

I'm talking about the cheapest folder with regards to cost that you would trust not to fail in an emergency?

Just curious what you all think :)

Mine would be a CRKT M16-13T

SAK would get my vote... sorry missed the whole self defense thing..... not sure.

Low-end Cold Steel. Especially anything with a Tri-Ad lock

Seeing as the lock on the m16 I had (10 years ago) failed like clockwork, it would be dead last.

I also have no plans to fight or "survive" with a knife, especially a folder.

That said, I guess my choice would be a cold steel with the tri-ad lock.

I'm not a fan of pocket knives as defensive weapons (absent a firearm, I'd prefer to press a nearby object into service as an impact weapon), so that doesn't factor into the equation for me.

The best survival knife IMHO is the one you have with you, and the biggest emergencies I've had to deal with (such as ruptured radiator hoses in the middle of the Mojave) have required more than a simple blade.

As such, I'd go for a Victorinox Farmer, Soldier, or Pioneer.

Kershaw Blur Tanto...lock is solid (no flex or failure like the youtube videos) and tip is stronger than the drop point. I have an older 13c26n combo tanto that is rock solid and I'd trust it in many conditions.

Any knife can break, I don't trust any knife to fail but rather I trust myself not to fail the knife.

Probably an Ontario RAT 1, but I have to admit, as far as cheap price, I've recently picked up some folders by Ganzo, that for under $20.00 are pretty solid.

Hopefully I'll NEVER have to depend on a knife for my life but in the worst of the worst situation any of these would fit the bill.

They have one of the most solid lock ups of damn near any knife i've ever owned.

Kershaw Asset, 20 bucks. Persian style stabby blade with enough handle to grip. Slashing sharp out of the box.

Definitely not a fan of knives in self defense situations but there are many budget (cheap) knives I would trust. For sake of this thread I'll go SAK pioneer and Ontarion Rat 1.

Probably my buck 482 , I wouldn't want or have a folder as my only knife in a survival situation but the 482 is the best one handed folder 20$ can get you ( your mileage may vary )

If your in a survival situation without a knife that's something out of your control, but if a knife can be with you it can be a fixed blade.

Depends on what everyone considers "cheap" I will say that my life, I believe is not cheap and would spend just a little extra if my life depended on it.
