MOST Intimidating EDC folder

I am happy to go out of my way to make a silly point and know some of the people think exactly the same way you do. I don't mind one bit looking silly to a make my stance on an issue known.

Heh...who would have guessed?

That looks like the one I posted from the movie Hannibal. Under certain circumstances I'd be less intimidated by a big ole blade vs. a scalpal or something like this which just looks like it'll destroy whatever it cuts.

My completely uneducated guess on using that for self defense would be: Tip would go in, but there would be too much friction with the serrated blade and it would get hung up and not slash very far. This of course is dependant on the user and sharpness of knife. I feel a plain edge would be more effective. I repeat that I know nothing of knife fighting, nor knife terminal ballistics (I don't know what else to call it).

I'm with Pinnah on this one. Why stir up trouble for yourself and the rest of us? To whip out a knife to annoy others is immature, and in many cases illegal. Now if it is for true tactical reasons, now that's another story, though stealthy surprise is probably more effective if you are truly in danger.

In the movie it's razor sharp. It would go in quick and completely destroy you. The serrations are indeed sharp so it'll just suck really bad.

I was under the impression that the initial post was directed towards showing the "MOST Intimidating EDC Folder" Why does it seem like everyone's fighting again? This is now the 3rd time it's happened this week.

Most intimidating... Hmm. Spyderco Szabo, CS Recon 1 XL, AK47, SOG Pentagon Elite II (5" blade spear point), SOG Trident Tanto Tini, Spyderco ladybug,

One of my favorites aside from the Cold Steel Ti Lite is the Beretta Avenger a Warren Thomas/Beretta collaboration.

Fixed.

I don't pull out the knife in front of others unless its for a reason [actual use]. I never stated I wave it around unnecessarily, but while it's out, it might as well be a scary looking one. I don't pull it out at any time anyone else with a stider, ZT, Hinderer, etc. wouldn't. I am also aware of where I do it, specifically at work where the topic was brought up and resolved. I would say I'm not the only who does it, which is true, but in many cases that's not a valid reason to say something is ok. When going into unknown audiences, I usually carry something more PC or just don't pull it out.

Oh yay, the Fun Police have arrived to destroy yet another thread about knives on a knife forum.
A light-hearted, tongue-in-cheek thread started by someone who thought others probably had an ability to not be ridiculously serious.
Way to go, Fun Police.

Maybe it's because I live in Texas, but I have never encountered someone who thought that knives in general were intimidating, or got freaked out when they realized someone was carrying one.

Perhaps I misunderstood the intent of your post, but when I read the title word "INTIMIDATNG" and purposing to "Piss off people" for "Fun" I infer that you are picking a fight or stirring up trouble on purpose. I regularly carry a Yojimbo II, and understand that it can instill fear in some people, so I use it with consideration and avoid trying to scare people.

My Cold Steel Recon 1 with the ultra lock and spear point always get second looks. Even from guys that carry guns all day!

This one certainly gets my vote, especially if one consider practicality of carry, and budget. I got my 4" for 48 bucks delivered. And it's tanto point, which I feel most sheeple at least see as slightly scarier. The Kershaw Tremor also gets my vote for most bang for the buck.

As you may have noticed, I'm not the most eloquent when it comes to wording things, and can see how you interpretted that. The Yojimbo is exactly the kind of knife I'm looking for in the spirit of this thread. Designed for functionality, but happens to be very intimidating. Also perfectly practical in size for EDC. Although I can see carrying a Voyager XL or something like that into the woods, there's no way I'd be able to EDC it. Forget being uncomfortable and feeling the weight of it, it physically would not fit into my pocket.

Heh, the XL Espada only fits into the pocket on two pairs of pants that I own, and is not useful for any pocket-knife type tasks.
The XL Voyager is just about in the same territory ...
I find that once a knife has more than a 4" blade, it becomes less useful for ordinary, "around the town" type of pocket-knife tasks. Up to 4" and I can use it for all my normal knife needs.
Plus, no one has ever gotten weirded out by my use of a knife in that size range, even at university.
If I pulled out the Espada XL to open an envelope in public, then yes, I'd look like a dork...probably a dork the cops would soon be conversing with. :)

I for one appreciate every thread that isn't dead serious and community accepted becoming an all out cat fight. I would much rather read arguments than look at cool knives!

P.s. that's the first little face thingy I've ever used. I'm pretty excited.
