I am happy to go out of my way to make a silly point and know some of the people think exactly the same way you do. I don't mind one bit looking silly to a make my stance on an issue known.

That looks like the one I posted from the movie Hannibal. Under certain circumstances I'd be less intimidated by a big ole blade vs. a scalpal or something like this which just looks like it'll destroy whatever it cuts.
My completely uneducated guess on using that for self defense would be: Tip would go in, but there would be too much friction with the serrated blade and it would get hung up and not slash very far. This of course is dependant on the user and sharpness of knife. I feel a plain edge would be more effective. I repeat that I know nothing of knife fighting, nor knife terminal ballistics (I don't know what else to call it).
I'm with Pinnqh on this one. Why stir up trouble for yourself and the rest of us? To whip out a knife to annoy others is immature, and in many cases illegal. Now if it is for true tactical reasons, now that's another story, though stealthy surprise is probably more effective if you are truly in danger.
One of my favorites aside from the Cold Steel Ti Lite is the Beretta Avenger a Warren Thomas/Beretta collaboration.

People who carry a knife for this reason are just jackasses who think they are a badass
Fixed.
I don't pull out the knife in front of others unless its for a reason [actual use]. I never stated I wave it around unnecessarily, but while it's out, it might as well be a scary looking one. I don't pull it out at any time anyone else with a stider, ZT, Hinderer, etc. wouldn't. I am also aware of where I do it, specifically at work where the topic was brought up and resolved. I would say I'm not the only who does it, which is true, but in many cases that's not a valid reason to say something is ok. When going into unknown audiences, I usually carry something more PC or just don't pull it out.
My Cold Steel Recon 1 with the ultra lock and spear point always get second looks. Even from guys that carry guns all day!
Perhaps I misunderstood the intent of your post, but when I read the title word "INTIMIDATNG" and purposing to "Piss off people" for "Fun" I infer that you are picking a fight or stirring up trouble on purpose. I regularly carry a Yojimbo II, and understand that it can instill fear in some people, so I use it with consideration and avoid trying to scare people.
Although I can see carrying a Voyager XL or something like that into the woods, there's no way I'd be able to EDC it. Forget being uncomfortable and feeling the weight of it, it physically would not fit into my pocket.
Oh yay, the Fun Police have arrived to destroy yet another thread about knives on a knife forum.
A light-hearted, tongue-in-cheek thread started by someone who thought others probably had an ability to not be ridiculously serious.
Way to go, Fun Police.![]()
